Our favorite Thousand Trails campgrounds in Texas are Lake Conroe, Lake Whitney, and Colorado River; in that order. They have spent a lot of money on the Lake Conroe campground in the past three years or so and are still in the process. I believe they have made huge improvements. We were just there last month and we go there a couple times every year.
Lake Whitney has some road problems, but has some really beautiful campsites and they have rebuilt and remodeled the public buildings and facilities since a storm did a lot of destruction in the early summer of 2015. We also go there a couple times a year.
Colorado River has fewer campsites than the others, but the property is extensive. It has had repeated flooding problems over the past two years, but the management there has been able to hold it together in spite of that and do a wonderful job. There are a lot of deer at Colorado River, but they are not as much of a pest as they can be at Lake Medina.
