This is one area where I feel I have some insight. As a recreational detailer I have a wide array of equipement, polishes, & waxes.

I've clayed, nano-skinned, polished, and waxed more cars than I can remember.

Having said that I can tell you at the end of the day if you want a good "wax" that isn't "high end" Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax is fantastic. It's not technically wax. It's a synthetic polymer. Synthetic is far more durable than carnuba wax. It doesn't give you that deep wet look, but it'll last twice as long and stands up to UV rays much better. This can be put on in the sun and removes very easy. It will not stain trim either.

If you want a good spray wax. Spray on and wipe off. I actually use this all the time between a standard wax. I also use this exclusively on the sides of my camper since it's stick built. It's just easier to do.

Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax. Don't mistake it for the Quik Detailer. Not the same.

This is really helpful, thanks!

Do you have any thoughts on the all wash wax that seems to be really popular on this thread?

I just brought home a new Cherokee 274DBH and I feel some pressure to get a coat of wax on it asap.

It’s not camping but glamping is better than nothing.

I don't have any experience with the all wash wax, but I use this on my daily driver usually followed by a spray wax treatment

Thanks for your thoughts. I’ve always used Meguiar’s on my cars/trucks/motorcycles over the years. Have always like the result and love the smell! I don’t know why I’d change now.

Wash Wax All works great. I use it To freshen up when gassing up on the road, get the bugs off, clean the coach in the campground. Most campgrounds I have been to don't allow washing. I carry this and McGuires wax cleaner. Coach is always shining. There are a ton of really good products today.

to Wax or not to Wax

I use Adams Polish paint sealer. It takes a while to get it on but it’s pretty much good for a whole season

Have anyone try liquid wax. I used on my car and boat. Easy to apply and not much elbow work to get it out. You want something on it to protect. I also use it on my windshield help to remove bug with fluid and wipers.

A lot of people seem to like this stuff https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catal...?clickkey=5275. I have used it on my airplane. This may be a new formulation since I tried it (at least new packaging), but I didn't care for it.

Most of the pilots I know use and swear by good old lemon pledge. It's safe for plexiglass and all paints I know of. Makes the murdered bugs wipe off the leading edges easily. After a flight I spray the leading edge of one wing, and by the time I finish spraying the other wing, the murdered bugs on the first wing are soft and wipe right off. The remaining wax lasts long enough that the next group of victims wipe off easier.
I'm sure it will work equally as well on RV bugs found on the front cap.

I use Wash Wax All from Aircraft Spruce as well with their double sided telescoping mop. I wash it first with a foam cannon and Chemical Guys Snow foam soap.

if so, what wax do you use?

Forget "wax", that is the old school method and far inferior to todays synthetic options.

What you want... nay... need is Meguiar's G18309 Ultimate Fast Finish.

Wash and dry your unit.
Spend 1 hour with this synthetic sealant and you'll have an easy 6 months of sealant and UV protection. This is the easiest to use product on the market today, and should replace all of your old school carnauba products completely. I've fallen deeply in love with this particular product. I love it long time!

I've always been a big fan of Nu Finish and used it for years first on my boat and then on my motor homes. A couple of years back I switched to Mequirs Mirror Finish #21 polymer. This is now my standard because it comes off a little easier than Nu Finish without the "wax" dust NF would leave and seems to last as long.

I've always used some type of spray wax after washing the rig for fast touch-ups or second coats. Both Turtle wax spray from Walmart or Meguirs spray and wipe work great I've also been a big user of Dollar Store furniture spray wax from time to time. I learned this trick back in the 70's on my motorcycle, with it always being shined for a ride. This past summer I bought Wash Wax All on Amazon because of recommendations from another forum. I've used it just about every time I washed my car as a quick wax and shine, even using it once on a dry car a couple of days after a wash to re-shine the car. Does a nice job and again it wipes off easier than the Mequirs Wax and Wipe. I 've also used it on the front of my RV and it seemed to do a nice job with additional protection from the ever-present bug splatter.

That looks like promising! I might try that instead of taking the RV to a detailer.

I think you'll fall in love, you'll likely start using on your automobiles as well. It's so fast and easy to use that you will not mind doing it every few months on a car or truck. You literally wipe into the surface, give it about a minute to bond and use a second microfiber to fluff any smears away. That's it. If you spend more than 4 minutes in the hood of your car/truck.... I'm not sure what your doing!

You'll still do your quality wash prior to this. But you needed to do that anyways.

YouTube search some videos of this from professional detailers and you'll see how easy it is.

I use the Aero Cosmetics Wash Wax All, really like it, also use it on my DRW since it’s difficult to find car washes, buy it on Amazon

I don't remember the formulation I used being blue. I do remember it seeming like it was rubbing dirt into the paint, and my bird was not cheap to paint.
I might have to try the blue formulation to dry wash the bird, but only because washing an airplane is a royal PITA.

Being able to dry wash an airplane is a real advantage, but getting an RV to water isn't hard at all.

Came across this thread and took advantage of the nice weather we've been having here. I was the TT and for good measure the truck today. Sore and tired, but they both look great now!
