Toilet not holding water

Dometic 310, 2nd season for it. Toilet started not holding water in the bottom of the bowl. Takes an hour or 2 for it to seep out. Should I be using Vaseline or some other type of lube on the rubber gasket in the bottom of the bowl?

PS - as typing this, just happened to think maybe it's something like a piece of TP wedged in the groove of the gasket, will check that, but open for any other ideas. Thanks !

Yes clean around the gasket sealing area for debris.

I put rubber gloves on and use vegetable oil on the rubber seal

Try putting near boiling water in the bowl and let cool. Might seal the gasket.

Would not do that as the flapper is plastic and it might warp or crack the bowl.

It's a lime buildup on the rubber seal and the surface it seals with, the dome shaped flapper that moves with the foot pedal. Take a kitchen scouring pad (don't use anything metal like an SOS pad) or scour side of a sponge and very lightly rub both surfaces. You can use a little vinegar or Lime-A-Way, or CLR. For me just a very light rub with the scour side of the kitchen sponge is all it takes.

From what I could feel on mine the first time I cleaned it, the buildup was more so on the bottom side of the rubber gasket than the plastic flapper that moves.

that 310 bowl seal just pops out. careful you dont lose it down the toilet. it would prolly clog and it costs about way too much to replace. list price was about 45 bucks when they first came out. anyway, you could then clean it and then pop it back in with the valve closed. um...if you really wanted to clean it good

Actually, this is a recommended procedure in my 310 manual for when bowl will not hold water. Bowl of 310 is ceramic.

Since we use olive oil for cooking I use it stay away from petroleum based products they will break the rubber seals down.

Good advice.
I just replaced the seal on my 320 (plastic bowl) this morning and the instructions called for silicone grease. Don't use Vaseline or any other petroleum product. I also cleaned the ball surface with spray silicone. It's a good solvent as well as a slick 'em up.

Contact Dometic, I kept having the same issue with my 310 in my 2010 Silverback 29RE. Replaced very expensive gasket and tried using recommended lubricants but would not stop leaking.
So I contacted Dometic to see if they had a fix and was told they would have replaced the toilet for free but I waited to long (more than 2 years) before I contacted them with the problem! So I replaced the toilet with a different brand.

They sent my dealer a gasket for free and allowed a half-hour labor. They stand behind their products.

I have used vinegar in our toilet many times because of the water in Arizona to clean the minerals off of the rubber seal. I soak the entire water system each summer with a mix of 7 gallons of vinegar and same amount of water . Sit for 3 days and drain the tank and wh and flush all system until the water is clear and no odor of vinegar.

Get some plumbers grease from home depot but make sure you get the silicone grease and NOT the petroleum variety. Put a small amount on the gasket and that should allow it to hold water. That silicone grease also works great on the the dump valves.
