Toilet Paper
Someone Was Nice Enough To Take The Time
To Explain To Me That I Didnt Have To Spend 4x The
Money On "special" Tp For The Tt.
Just Curious As To How Many People Actually Buy
The "special Stuff" Or How Many Buy Regular
Septic Safe Tp?

youd be surprised.
i knew of a person that put all his toilet paper in a bag next to the potty, because a salesmen told him the holding tank was not for toilet paper.
glad it worked out for you.

I was told to take the TP in doubt and put a piece of it in a jar 3/4 full of water, put on the lid, and shake it. If it starts coming apart, it would be OK for the black tank. If it stays together like a paper towel would do, don't use it.
Does this sound correct?

Call me a wimp, but I buy the "special stuff." The black tank is the last thing I want to have a problem with and I simply don't want to take any chances so I spend a little extra money.

Anal! get it! toilet.... anal.... hehee! We pick up whatever is on sale and I try the old "dissolve in water' test, if it looks pretty dissolved, I take it to the trailer.

I used SCOTT single ply for many years.
Now...I don't give a crap. (get it)
I don't have a black tank, so my flushes go right down the sewer pipe.

Mind you, without a black tank, you could get away with printer paper. Not that I'd recommend it.

My last RV was a 36' Class A. Had all the bells-n-whistles. Shortly after buying it, a hurricane chased us out of the State while the storm passed. Bad storm, did lots of damage, closed I-95 due to fallen trees for several days.
My crew now living onboard suddenly found that the toilet quit flushing. Pouring rain at the campground, so using their facilities was a challenge. Campground was in Georgia, and was full of Floridians that had evacuated. The place was beyond full, it had the parking lot outside the campground also loaded with RVs. Consequently, bathrooms at the campground stayed very busy, and dirty from all the use, despite the owners efforts to keep things under control.
I was finally able to get a plumber out to take care of the issue. The TP caused a clog, and was still very much intact when removed. Imagine a big wad of wet tissue clumped together at the 4" outlet pipe.
So... I buy ONLY RV toilet tissue. The suggestion to put your TP in a jar with water and shake it is an excellent one. The RV tissue breaks down immediately. Do NOT confuse a septic tank with a holding tank. The bacterial action in a septic tank digests solids (yuk).

I think many RV/toilet paper clogs are caused by NOT USING ENOUGH WATER IN THE BLACK TANK. Water, and gravity is all you got...you need all you can get of both to empty a black tank.

We also use the regular 2-ply Angel Soft and have never had a problem with clogs. Now sensors not reading correctly is another story.

I only use "Enterprise" brand toilet paper because of it's ability to go to Uranus and wipe out what ever Klingons may be hiding there.
In reality I use the Scotts RV special paper because:
1. It's made for RVS
2. WalMart has it.
3. It costs more than regular TP but cheaper than the stuff you get at the RV store. This may be offset by the fact there is more on the Scotts roll compared to the RV store stuff.
4. And we only use our potty at all when it's dark or raining, preferring the CG facilities instead so our TP usage and blank tank problems are at a minimum.

Dude, you get the prize for opening the oldest thread on the forum
today!
Annnnd I still say it don't matter didly what brand TP you use if
you toss it in the wastebasket instead of down the potty!!
Houseboaters have been doing that for years.

"ENTERPRISE TP" Priceless!!!
I have to agree on the Scott TP at Walmart. We've been using it since they gave us coupons at the Hershey PA RV Show three years ago and have not had any problems.

Angel soft 2 ply from Wal Mart. It states on the package septic safe, and it breaks down very well with the water test! Randy

I've been afraid to try anything but RV toilet paper. We are going to experiment with Scott single ply RV on our next outing. We have had ZERO problems emptying and no sensor reading problems so I hate to mess with success. The little bit extra that that toilet paper costs is of no concern compared to the overall trip cost.
