Toilet Paper in the RV

So My wife and I are in a discussion about the use of TP in the RV. She thinks that we can use any TP we want and I say that we have to use RV TP only!
So can you all tell me which one we should use and why? or is there even an issue here? We are new to RVing, our unit is in the driveway but we have not used it as of yet. We were going to go out next wknd but rain is in the forcast for CA, (can you believe it) Rain in CA.... We need it... Please let us know about the TP.

After almost a year of buying "RV" toilet paper, we found out (by way of this forum) that there are several commercial (read cheaper) brands that will work just fine. We've been using Angel Soft exclusively for the past two years without any problems whatsoever......enjoy the go

I use the Charmin soft.. Same as we use at home.

Use the glass bottle technique to. See if your good. Put two or three sheets in the bottle, fill with water and shake a bunch of times. See how or if it breaks down. If so your golden.

If the label on the TP says "Septic Safe" it should be acceptable for RV use. They are supposed to sorta dissolve in water (as Doc73 described).

We use Scott 1 ply with no issue. My DW is not a fan. I just found a rapid dissolving version on the Scott website and supposedly is available at Walmart.

As stated above any septic safe TP is fine. I've been using Angel soft since 2011 with no issues. Just remember to put extra water in the bowl when having a bowel movement. Water is the key to black tank management. Don't let your black tank be dry. Empty when 2/3 or more full (or fill with water to 2/3 before dumping), flush tank using black tank flush or a tank wand, rinse and repeat. When flushed and empty leave a few gallons of water in the bottom of the tank to prevent the dreaded stone mountain from forming. I recommend using the geo method for tank management.

Been using Scott for 8 years with no problems along with chemical treatments during outings and a good tank flushing when done.

Like mentioned already. If your not certain, take a quart jar with lid. Fill about 3/4 full with water. Add 2-3 pieces of tp and shake. If it breaks up you can use it. If its still solid, stay away from it.

I used to use regular TP and had tons of issues with tank dumps so I went back to rv TP and have not had an issue since. Might have been the design of the rv black tank though.

We did a science fair experiment and concluded that you can use whatever feels best on your bum. Just use plenty of water!

Been fulltiming for 9 months now and 50-100 nights in the years prior- no issues.

The only time we really had a bad clog we were using Charmin. However that's been about 18 years ago and I can't remember which Charmin we were using. After that we ONLY use RV paper. One really bad clog up and you never make the same mistake again. I will also say that our two girls were young then so that probably was a major contributing factor.

We have found that we can use regular TP but honestly, when I dump, I can see the difference between regular and RV TP. The RV TP dissolves more thoroughly.

We've been using Scottt Rapid Dissolving which is readily available at Wally World. It's comfortable for my wife to use also. But if you use any old tp, you're going to run into trouble with it not breaking down in the tank, on the sensors, and the gate valve. If you can't find it, do what Doc73 did with the glass jar. Just make sure you don't use any old tp without putting it to the test, unless you like black tank problems.

We have some friends who use that system with the "tower" next to the toilet. I always make sure I've pee'd before we go visit them. Nasty if you ask me.
