took another hit.

Wll guys, for the second time in 4 years a tree limb has fallen into the roof of our 2007 Surveyor.
The first time it happened we were at a camp ground and it was a sunny, breezy day. Two weeks ago while parked where we keep her stored a limb from an Oak tree, maybe 15 years old, came down and hit the trailer in almost the same spot as the first incident.
The repairs from the first time ended up being over $10,000. The shop hasn't gotten into it yet but the damage looks very much the same. Of course the Adjuster wrote up that we "needed a new roof". and we are getting a check for $2891.00. But the claim is still open. And the check WILL NOT BE CASHED.
Over the phone, the shop mgr. said if the side wall is cracked, he plans to recommend it be totaled this time.

It's been a gloomy two weeks.

Without going out on a limb I think you need to branch out into an area that is tree poor.

It was recommended to us that we should get a second opinion on our trailer. We carried it to another local dealership and after having them look at it,they also said that the repairs would be way more than the the value of a 7almost 8 year old trailer. they are now working with Allstate. We now just have to wait and see what happens now.
It looks like we will no longer have our Surveyor

Sorry to hear this I know how it feels. Had 3 limbs put holes in my trailer last year adjuster said a new roof was $6000 for our 25 ft trailer the trailer was a 1996 and they totaled it out. I bought the trailer back patched the holes and another family bought it and are having fun with it now.

got to keep looking for the silver liner. We pay for the good times and old stories over a campfire and a cold one or cup of coffee...

I'm with the getting away from trees theory, if possible. Once is an accident, twice makes you wonder if somebody's trying to tell you something. I can deal with no shade better than a tree smashed RV or house. There is not a tree within falling distance of anything of any value on our place, anymore. Hurricane Rita managed to drop 35 old hardwoods everywhere. Talk about a mess to clean up.

At least it looks like there is a possibility of an upgrade, or new trailer?

There will be another trailer, we are already "window shopping". Some friends of ours let us keep our camper parked on their property just out side of town about 7 miles form where we live in town. It is six acres of wooded fenced and gated(with guard dogs)beautiful pond and large two story home. they don't charge us anything to store our trailer out there and even had their workshop wired for us to plug into. They may even let us build a pole barn.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. But at least the family is safe and that's what insurance is for. Just glad no one was hurt.
