Do you have any fear of hitting it when you turn (forwards or backing)?

Other than that- watch your tongue weight with something that size.

It may be too long and effect your turning angle. You know that one time you're trying to back into a site and DW is at the back and you hear crunch. It wouldn't be good.
Good idea but I'd look for something narrower, personally.

Well it's not going to work. The 12 inch width is going to hit the bars (?) Of the wdh on tongue. Well looks like I'm going to have to make a frame out of some angle.
It was worth a shot though

Is there room to make spacers to elevate the box above the WDH?

It should. But I have access to material and welder to make the frame, just wasn't wanting to fool with it

Tool Box on Trailer Tongue

I did it. I had a hard plastic tool box placed between front trailer wall and propane tanks. Snug fit after fabricating clamps and fasteners. Had room for the TT battery and for storing WDH assembly. Worked fine.

Here's something I put together to hold a pair of Interstate SRM 29's and a battery selector switch. Works pretty good and it's just made from a pressure treated 2X10.

The battery selector switch is a marine 300 amp switch that I enclosed in a Patio electrical outlet cover.

Since I had already had two batteries stolen from my previous trailer I secured these with a pair of Master Python locks. The cables are routed around the factory installed angle and through holes in the lid. Cables are snugged down tight against the batteries so even the more determined Tweakers can't just break the box and slide them out from underneath the cables.

To service the batteries all I need to do is release the lock and let out enough slack so I can tip the lid back. To close just pull the cable back through the locking mechanism.

I used the pressure treated lumber just to prove the concept. When I can get into my Son's shop later this summer I'll be replacing the wood with a welded frame of 2-3" angle with welded loops for the cable to pass through.

This setup gives me a total of 250 AH. using the Group 29's and they fit each in their own box.

Maybe jackknife truck & trailer and then hand place box on tongue to see how it fits under tight conditions?

I remember seeing an attachment to fit on the tongue, to be fitted above the propane tanks. I wish I could remember where, but it was when I was looking for something to attach a generator to.

Sounds like you have decided another way b ut here is one like you describe that I used a few years back. My batteries were on the angle iron below trailer tongue so in that case i cut enough bottom out so box fit over batteries. Box was real handy for wheel chokes and other items used to setup at a camp site. The 2-batteries were secure this way also.
Have fun Welding a frame up surprised you do not have one already. Maybe it to small?

Just didn't want to fool with it. I'm a welder by trade.

I've never welded in my life. If you're a welder and you'd be "fool"ing with it, I wonder what word would describe it if I tried it?
