Totalling up the carnage from last trip..

Between me and my buddy with the identical Roo...

1 mangled roo bumper (tree)
1 destroyed easy-up canopy (wind)
2 blown fuses. (chafed wire)
1 failed truck a/c (rock.. meet condenser. Condenser, rock)
1 dead alternator
1 defiled trash can (Red Stag whiskey and self-pity is a bad combo)

No, all this didnt happen at the same time. It seemed ever 6 hours or so, something bad happened. We were actually joking about it as we packed up, saying we were due for something to happen. Then the Excursion wouldnt start...

Still had a blast. cant wait to do it again. BTW, in case you are keeping score... It was my alternator, easy up and trashcan. It was the buddies bumper, A/C and fuses.

Tim

It gets windy here & I keep an easy-up canopy up over an AG pool for extended period of time. At Sports Chalet I picked up the extended warranty for about $20 which covers wind & other weather related damages. No questions asked for replacement.

While Wal-Mart has many flaws, their return policy is fantastic. It's less than 6 months old, and has less than a dozen set-ups on it. I'll take it back to them and exchange it for a new one.

That's good to know about Walmart. But got to ask how do they know how many set-ups is on it? Wear & tear?

I have a 2 year warranty and usually after a year plus is when I see the wind or rain damage with my canopy. What surprises me is that only do I get a new canopy but they give me a new 2 year warranty at no charge. So far I have gotten about 5 years out of my 2 year coverage.

They don't know. I once took a 3 year old, worn out weedeater back to them an they gave me a new one. They (the people at the counter) don't care. If you have a receipt, its a done deal, and if you don't have a receipt, if the bar code scans, then its all good too.

I do not view this as dishonest or even underhanded. After all. They made their return policy. Not my problem if I use it...

The fact that you had to mention that you don't view it as dishonest tells me that you feel at least a shred of guilt about it (as you should). People taking advantage of it is the reason they are cracking down on their return policy....

Glad you make yourself sleep better at night by telling yourself that. You do realize that they are a business and are not just going to eat that cost. They pass it back on to you in one way or another.
