Towing MPG question

Hello, I tow a Mini Lite 25DS with a F150.
I was wondering if anyone has experience towing with a tonneau cover vs a truck cap.
How much does the truck cap improve MPG (less wind resistance against the front of the trailer) than a tonneau cover!

Thanks in advance!

I removed my cap and gained 3MPG.

I use a tonneau cover on my truck to keep the wind from hitting tailgate. It does improve mileage. Later RJD

I had a tonneau cover on my 2500 and never saw a difference in fuel mileage. It was good for putting things in you didn't want everyone to see.

I have a cap on my truck and a V nose trailer and it seems the only way to improve gas mileage is to always tow downhill with a tail wind!

want to gain mileage? Leave the trailer home. The wind your pushing with that is the problem, not the tailgate.

I've had a tonneau cover of one kind or another on my last 4 trucks. I put them all on after getting the truck. I never noticed one iota of difference in MPG either way, pulling or not pulling.

Towing MPG question

I gained about 2MPG after I installed my tonneau cover when I'm not towing.

Thanks for all the feedback, my original question was if anyone had experience with having a tonneau cover vs a truck cap. I would think a cap would help with the wind hitting the front of the trailer, helping with MPG'S. I have a tonneau cover now but was wondering if there was any benefit in changing to a truck cap.
Thanks Again

I don't think so, not where mpg's are concerned. I've had both. I also watched my mileage with the bed naked before I got them.

2008 silverado cc 4x4 5.3 with hard fiberglass tonneau
2013 silverado cc 4x4 5.3 with fold up tonneau
2015 silverado double cab 4x4 with shell

Not much difference in any of them. For one thing the shell weighs a lot more.
