Transfer Switch

We just had to replace the power transfer switch on our 2017 Legacy 38C as the generator wouldn't power the coach. The mobile tech brought out 2 transfer switches and asked me to choose the one I wanted installed. The first was a replacement in kind for $180 and actually listed it as "Low Cost Transfer Switch" on the mfgr label. The other was an upgrade for $477, obviously I went with the upgrade as I know the low cost doesn't last more than a year and half. I'm curious if the extended warranty is going to cover the cost of the upgrade and the labor, has anyone had any experience with extended warranty coverage and an upgraded repairs? I just find it peculiar that the manufacturer would even list the transfer switch as "Low Cost".
