We attempt to stay under 300 miles a day (when there is a campground around). Good Luck!

We’ve been working around the 250/300 mile scenario on our first snowbird round trip, OH to FL. We’re limited to max tow speed of 65 with our Ford Edge and a 5-6 hr requirement to run the engine & cycle the tranny to keep oil in the upper gear cluster. That said, when calculating our average speed (cruise set @ 62/63 ish) pulling hills, etc averages out to about 57 mph. So I’ve been calculating rough Time/distance and average 7 Mpg to figure rest breaks fuel and next CG. Seems to work fairly well so far...it’s pretty much up to you and as others have said, what your time conditions are driving your trip...once you make the full retirement world, every days a fun day, no rush. You’ll figure out what works for YOU-just take your time &

I'm 70 now and find 400 - 450 most comfortable pulling a 43' 5er. I've recently done 810, but had a 2 day layover before going on to the destination. It is a very rare day I travel less than 350. Overnight I prefer a pull through and only hook up electric before dark. My snowbird CG is 780 miles, a 1 day trip. The aux fuel tank saves a ton of time with fewer stops.

It always varies for us. We both still work, so we are limited on time in most cases. Our longest continuous pull was 18 hours, but our normal target time behind the wheel is 8 to 10 hours per day.
If not doing the red eye, we usually average around 50 to 52 MPH which includes fuel/restroom stops and a 30 to 45 minute break for a meal. On a red eye, we eat on the go, and only stop for fuel and brief restroom breaks, and we can usually average 59 to 60 MPH on a day's travel, but that is pushing it pretty hard and my co-pilot let's me know about it.

This varies for everybody. I usually tow at 63 but never over 65. After several years and multiple trips we usually average 50 miles in an hour. If all interstate and light traffic it might jump up to 55. We like between 200 and 250 miles a day.

SeaDog has it right... For myself I usually travel only a few hours from home to state parks in Florida. When I go to my hunting camp in October it's a good 7 to 7.5 hours and usually by myself. I can do it but I'm worn out...I'm planning on a 3 week trip by myself again and my farthest leg is 5.5 hours. That will be my max when I do this full time!

We are new to this also. We have agreed no more than 350 miles a day. Both retired and in no rush to rack up the speed and miles. We stop every two to 2 ½ hrs. We also stop for big balls of string and aluminum. We are really enjoying this. Our favorite campground right now is Libby’s in York ME. Right on the water, it’s amazing.

My question is this. How far do you travel each day. The TT is for leisure travel and we are not particularly in a hurry. Just curious what others do.

To ensure we still like the travel as much as the stays, we don't do more than 400km (say about 250 miles) in a day, which is about 3-4 hours tops, including a lunch stop cruising at 90km/hr (56 mph). No more unless it is absolutely necessary, which it rarely is.
We rarely leave before 9am. The wife has a particular bathroom regime she must stay close to which limits when we can move after we get up. It's not a big deal and helps to slow us down to comfy levels. I used to rush everywhere and saw little of the journey, not any more.

We get the distance and divide by either 45 or 50 (50 if we avoid DC and baltimore) then look at how much time we have. We've done 9 or 10 hours of driving but that is rough. Got the speed limit idea from ependydad.

My wife and I just did a 6 week trip to most of the national parks. We stayed between 300 and 400 because we had a pop up to set up and take down on one night stops

We're right in line with Allenb12. I set the cruise at 63. With differences in traffic, construction, and other issues, we figure we'll average 50 mph. Today we got a late start from St. Louis on our way back to Middlebury after getting new tires and an alignment on the toad.
With a couple of construction zones and a very brief torrential rain, we drove 210 miles in four hours. We would have gone a little further, but it was getting dark and the sky was ominous. Tonight we're in Rantoul, IL, listening to rain pounding on the roof and enjoying the fact that we're off the road and listening to the rain instead of on the road driving through it.

I usually travel between 300 and 400 miles and since I have a 50 gallon fuel tank and don't need to have a diesel stop between campgrounds. I also use an average of 50 miles per hour for each trip while towing. I can drive 10 to 12 hour days but prefer not to since I am retired and usually not in a hurry!
We are heading to Colorado in July which is a 1600 mile trip. I will probably allow one week of travel unless I just want to spend some extra time to take in the sites on the way.

My minimum goal is 400 miles a day. I just bought a trailer in Arizona and pulled it home to Alaska in eight days. That amounts to an average of 500 miles a day. I was able to do this because I was traveling alone. If my wife had been with me, it would have taken an extra day or two. Solo travel is always faster.

Good one
That is a good one. And pertinent. I'm an ex Coastie (USCG) and use nautical terms all the time. Our first venture out, fresh off of the RV dealer's lot to the campground we called our Installation Cruise. We installed TV, Dish, towel racks, rear observation camera and stuff like that over the course of those three days.
Our next venture we called our Shakedown Cruise, to make sure everything was working properly and more importantly to make sure we remembered what to do.
Our next trip we are calling our Maiden Voyage.
Although, since I'm retired reveille isn't usually until 0730 not sure what it will be on our future cruises.

I’ve gone as little as 60 miles and as much as 600 due to an emergency. Preference is to enjoy every 1/10 of a mile along the journey and only then enjoy the destination. Maybe 250-300 miles depending on dog breaks and what we see along the way. Try not to make RV park reservations as that takes our flexibility away.
