Travel distance and time
We are newbies. We've only been on two trips with our new TT. The first about 40 miles from the dealer to a campground near home so if we needed anything we could get easily while installing stuff.
The second longer trip was about 150 mikes away.
My question is this. How far do you travel each day. The TT is for leisure travel and we are not particularly in a hurry. Just curious what others do.

If I have a destination 1,000 miles away, I'll do 450, 500 a day. If I've got time, prefer 300 a day.

For us, the underlying mission/purpose determines our distance as well as medical issues with backs, etc. When we are traveling to pick up the G'kids or must be somewhere, then it can be 8 hours a day. When we have the grand-kids its a lot less, maybe drive from 10-12, lunch and playtime, then drive from 1 to maybe 4/5. They need pool time and playground time for them to see it as a vacation. If it's a vacation then take the time and look for fun places and well rated parks/places. Unless you are mission driven who cares if you make it 50 or 500? That's my thoughts.

I try to plan legs with not much more that 300 miles. I look to drive at about 65, so with stops that is 6-7 hours on the road. That's enough for me. Prefer to be under 300.

For us it depends on our destination. If we go to Northern New Mexico, that is about 600 miles, so we will do that in one day. Otherwise, we will do about 400 to 450 miles. It depends on when we get away. We are a little slow getting started.

As stated before depends on the reason, time/ money restraints and most of all who plans the route me or the wife. Example this upcoming trip I had 3 days planned to get from West Texas to Yellowstone ( I knew she would baulk at two 600 mile day she started booking rv site it became a 4 nite 5 day ordeal we are back to 3 days since we are leaving later and meeting friends up there now instead of caravan. Wife doesn’t want to spend all day driving I want to spend extra time in the mountains enjoying them not driving extra days that are short with lots of “down” time at end of day extra setting up and hooking up that said in the past she has found cool things to do in route or at end of day I never would have done

Pulling our fifth wheel I have frequently driven about 425 miles from Port Aransas, TX home - and then there was the trip to Florida right after retiring where we covered just over 200 miles in 3 days just because there were so many things we wanted to see. (I do all the driving with the 41' fifth wheel.)
Not pulling a trailer...last month my grandson and I went to Louisville, KY and I drove 729 miles in one day. Got to tell you...my 68-year old "sitting down gear" was pretty tired that day. Fortunately that was in the car with no trailer.

We prefer 300 miles (or mikes, or is it klicks?) per day but will do 400 if needed. 200 mile days are a nice treat.

350 is optimum.
Headed out west tomorrow............that area is so spread out that I'm doing some 450 mile legs. Hilly of course, so stress goes up also. But this time I have destinations (spodabee's, I call 'em).

When I was working and had limited vacation time off we would do 500 miles a day to get to where we wanted to go. Now since retirement we do at the most 350 miles but usually around 300 miles a day. This depends on campground distance and where we are going for our trip.
We stop ever two hours for a walk for 10 min's and rest break. I usually preplan our over night stays and try to be in the campground around 4:00 PM. I will use a pull thru site for the overnight stop with out unhitching the 5er, just extend the front legs until they touch the ground.

I like to keep my travel to 200-250 miles a day. I try to get on the road no later than 10am (miss the rush at the dump station for those stops without sewer) and to the next campsite around 3pm (beat the mess at checkin). I don't want to set up in the dark and I like to rest after travel. My travel averages 50 miles each hour or a little less. A 500 mile trip means at least 10 hours on the road and that is too long, when I used to work I traveled the eastern half of the US with a car and 500 miles at 70mph with one fuel stop was doable and I also stayed in hotels so no set ups. But since I am a lot older now I have slowed the pace way down.

we have pretty much settled into 300 miles per day as the max, though 400 can be done if circumstances require. we want to get to the destination in the afternoon to set up and try to relax. we also try to put in a day here and there where with no travel so we can relax, restock, etc. we also break the travel into 100 mile segments. legs need to be stretched, biology breaks taken, and fuel bought. you'll find your own rhythm.

For highway driving plan for 50 miles in the hour. For other roads, plan for 30 miles in the hour. It's said that way because that's not how fast you drive but, how much ground you'll actually cover taking into account traffic lights, re-fueling both vehicle and people, and necessary bio breaks. Strangely, it doesn't seem to matter how fast you actually drive which is counter to what straight math says. Just using D=R*T doesn't take into account things like traffic, acceleration and deceleration time, duration and timing of traffic lights and all the other myriad variables that affect forward progress. You can use those numbers to determine how far you can go in a desired driving time or how long it will take to go a desired distance. These number are, of course, for planning only and not accurate enough for those with a detectable level of OCD but, I've found them to hold up pretty well of time.
As a direct answer to the question, 5 hours (150 for primarily non-highway to 250 miles for primarily highway) at TT speed and level of attention seems more than sufficient for a day. If I'm in a bigger hurry, then I'm not likely to be towing.

Like most, it depends on the mission. We are Georgians now, Texans by birth. Still working, so we try to maximize our time off and drive part way after work when we visit family back home. That translates to about 6.5 hours on the road to make Vicksburg after work, which does include some night driving, but our stopover place is all pullthrough, and since we just sleep, we just plug in elect if we need AC. I am an early riser ( think 3am), so I usually unplug, caffeinate, and am headed West on I20 by 4am. DW joins me in Louisiana and we are either in Fort Worth after a 7 hour drive to visit friends and family or San Angelo after 11 hours and playing with the Grands. Yes, this is tiring and in 4 years (will be retiring) plan to take the pace waaaay down. For comparison, 6 hour drives however, are what we plan for typical multi-day vacations to get to where we plan to stay. The majority of our trips are 4 hours or less to get away for a long weekend. Hope this helps!

Travel Time and Distance
We are full timers now, and getting older.
In the past we have traveled a max of about 360 miles in a day but it became too hard on us. A couple years back we met another couple and they introduced us to the 2-2-2 method of travel. Because we are full timers pretty much all that drives us is weather.
So, each year we pick our travel areas then I sit down and plan the route.
We usually travel less than 250 miles in a day. We get into the campground by 2 pm and we stay for two days. If we’re going a long distance I will build an extra day in once in a while to get a little more rest.
We only drive about 57 mph.

I like to drive and I also am always excited to get to where I am going, so, it is not unusual for me to drive 10 or 11 hours and I have driven as much as 25 hours with stops for a walk and eats. But, that is just me. Also, even when I have someone with me to help drive, I prefer to drive.
