Travel trailer and a semi

So I played Russian Roulette with a semi on the way to the campground this afternoon and this was the result. Thankfully no one was hurt but the wife and kids were pretty shaken. Somehow after changing the left front tire I still managed to make it to camp and everything works properly. I don't know how fast he was driving when he came up on my left in the fast lane but we've all been passed by hundreds of semi's while towing and obviously I've never been sucked in so hard and fast in all the trips I've made. I didn't even have time to drop an "f-bomb" before I was into the side of him. I saw him coming so it wasnt like i wasnt paying attention either. Just makes another case for all you people towing 5vers lol. Just glad I was in a super duty! Guess I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, now I get to deal with insurance companies.

OMG.

I have felt the pull before but never got sucked in. I am glad you are all safe.

What was your speed and what would you estimate his? Two or four lane?

Glad you're all safe. Just got back from trip to Yellowstone and lots of semi's pass but nothing as bad as you experienced.

Wow that's a crying shame! I can remember that "suck in, push out" feeling when we had our TT....all stopped when we got the 5er....it's amazing the difference!

Holy! Fortunately, everyone was ok. Had to have been a scary feeling being pulled into an 18 wheeler like that. You're very lucky that you were able to make it to where you were going.

Glad you are okay, and thanks for sharing.

We just ended a 7k mile trip and the push/pull feeing was on my mind more than I'd like. We've discussed moving up to a 250 for that reason. We just had never known it to be a reality that someone was pulled in enough to contact.

Again, glad you are okay. Stuff can be fixed.

This happens with fifth wheels too. Don't let them fool you that it doesn't happen with fifth wheels. I have a one ton long bed crew and a 30ft Fifthwheel it I can still feel the big trucks sucking me in when they go by.
I used to drive big trucks and you even feel you are being sucked in when another passes you.

Yes glade every one is ok. I've driven a lot of miles when I had my 5er but I had a 1 ton Chevy dully and never had issues with 18 wheelers passing. One of the reasons for having dully more stable on the road. I'd say he must have drifted closer to you than you thought. Later RJD

Wow, thank God everyone is OK. I guess you got some pretty strange looks as you drove to your campsite.

This is not a criticism........it's simply a question.........what does "Playing Russian Roulette" mean? Were you inching closer to him to force him over?

And pics are all sideways (iPhone???), but how did the extended mirror not get torn off?

This would seem to be the ultimate definition of 'sway', though.

DANG! Glad everyone is safe, and the stains should come out when the clothes are washed. We don't normally experience very much sway with our Wind Jammer and Equilizer, but last year we were traveling on I-70 in Kansas and it was windy. Had to watch every single truck that passed me because the 30 MPH wind was 90 degrees to our direction of travel and 18 wheelers made a huge wind disruption. Had not had it that bad before...or since; a very high "pucker factor" day! The TV will be an easier to fix than the TT, oh boy what a mess, my sympathies buddy.

And did the 18 wheeler truck stop?

No I wasn't inching over to force him over, I was just trying to make light of the situation....mirror got bent all the way forward but did not come off

Yes police came, no one charged yet, it will be reviewed within 10 business days and we'll get a report??? Truck driver went into the grass median almost into oncoming traffic and got stuck in mud so he had to be towed out.
