Travel trailer storage

We currently have a rural home and are able to store our TT there which is great. We are considering moving to a less rural area but have found VERY few houses that will accommodate storing a TT on-site. We have found that most subdivisions have restrictions against this through a Home Owners' Association. One alternative would be a storage lot, but that is less than ideal when considering the packing and unpacking for trips. Wondering what others have done to solve this issue?

Sorry couldn't resist stay in the rural area (Hope never to move from that type area).......... I guess we have been lucky when we lived in a city never lived where there's HOAs in our neighborhood. Son's area has an HOA trailer restriction but it has to be kept behind the fence (backyard).

I'm able to keep our 5er behind one of our facilities at work with access to power and water. My parents live in a neighborhood where to covenants restrict parking an RV on property to just a few days. They store their TT at a storage facility and a couple days before a trip they bring it to the house to clean and load.

I guess I'm lucky. No HOA, which is good and bad. Live in County not City, I could actually keep my TT in my front yard if I wanted to. If you can't keep your RV at home you don't have many options.

We were lucky to find a storage lot five minutes from the house. We are also able to bring it home to load and unload, wash it, work on it etc. We don't have an HOA but do have a community agreement, no trailers at the house. Nobody enforces it and many houses have smaller trailers (boats, pop ups, cargo etc). As long as they don't look bad or get in the way nobody complains. Our neighbors are ok with us keeping the trailer there for a week at a time if need be because it is a well taken care of trailer and not sitting in the weeds. We don't try to permanently keep it here because our lot is all hills. Long story short, learn the HOA rules for a house you want. Some will allow 24 hours some won't. There may also be town/municipal restrictions on keeping a trailer in the driveway or curbside so check those out too. Also think about the ability to maneuver it when everybody is home with their cars parked on the street. At our old house, our trailer was kept 30 minutes away and neighborhood maneuvering was too tight. We couldn't bring it home to wash it or load it or work on it. This was a pain. You had to load the truck then move it to the trailer. You couldn't just go turn on the fridge in advance since it was a hike so food to be packed in a cooler or bought along the way. Current set up, close by is much much better.

If it was me I'd Stay where you are. I see many cons against the move. I'm lucky as I do live in the city limits but no restriction. I added a paved area along side my home to park the TT and TV. Works great. I'd never own a house that has HOA to many nit pickers. Later RJD

Best time of year to get a storage unit. A lot of people put them up for winter and then keep them at home during the summer. I am actually moving mine to new storage unit next week that offers electricity. It will be nice to leave the fridge loaded and the batteries charging. Plus this one is only about 5 minutes from my house. Currently it's about 20 minutes away and it's a pain to load and unload.
