We were lucky to find a storage lot five minutes from the house. We are also able to bring it home to load and unload, wash it, work on it etc. We don't have an HOA but do have a community agreement, no trailers at the house. Nobody enforces it and many houses have smaller trailers (boats, pop ups, cargo etc). As long as they don't look bad or get in the way nobody complains. Our neighbors are ok with us keeping the trailer there for a week at a time if need be because it is a well taken care of trailer and not sitting in the weeds. We don't try to permanently keep it here because our lot is all hills. Long story short, learn the HOA rules for a house you want. Some will allow 24 hours some won't. There may also be town/municipal restrictions on keeping a trailer in the driveway or curbside so check those out too. Also think about the ability to maneuver it when everybody is home with their cars parked on the street. At our old house, our trailer was kept 30 minutes away and neighborhood maneuvering was too tight. We couldn't bring it home to wash it or load it or work on it. This was a pain. You had to load the truck then move it to the trailer. You couldn't just go turn on the fridge in advance since it was a hike so food to be packed in a cooler or bought along the way. Current set up, close by is much much better.

Sorry couldn't resist stay in the rural area (Hope never to move from that type area).......... I guess we have been lucky when we lived in a city never lived where there's HOAs in our neighborhood. Son's area has an HOA trailer restriction but it has to be kept behind the fence (backyard).
