Angry Truck and trailer too long?

So we are new to rving. Bought a new forest river evo the box is 22'long bumper to front of trailer is 26'. Bumper to bumper with the truck is I believe 46'. Looking at campsites in Yellowstone or Yosemite they say nothing over 30' or some st 40'? Does that mean we are just out of luck? We had a hard time finding a trailer we liked this small??

Can you park your truck beside your trailer on the grass. Or put it in at an angle in front of the trailer. Your trailer not to long I bet you can make it work out some how. Happy camping !!

That is a picture from a RV park we stayed at in West Yellowstone a couple of years ago, please note the power connection location.

On the other side there is a tree about two feet from the side of the FW.

As posted above I had to park at an angle in front of the site, rear bumper hung over into the next sites table area.

You can look up the CG you are looking at on youtube and see if they have any vidoes and what rigs are there or campgroundreviews.com. I recently booked Fishing Bridge YS, before we booked I went to youtube and other sites and found rigs bigger than mine there so I am not worried.

With that said it is a give and take. Some people couldn't open their awning or set out their patio chairs because their vehicle was taking up the room. Or the TV was sticking out into the road a little. Research is your friend and when in doubt call.

We camped in Yellowstone in Canyon campground in 08 in a 28ft travel trailer plus a Silverado 2500. We waited until we arrived to find campsites, we were there early, June 10. The only full hookups are in Fishing Bridge. If you know when you are going just make your reservations now. In Canyon and Madison the total length is 50ft so you are good. Yellowstone is beautiful I can assure you that one trip will not be enough

We were out there last summer with a rig of similar length and had no problems other than finding an open site since it was so crowded. As our bad luck would have it we were there when they set a new record for visitors. We failed to make reservations early, won't make that mistake again.

Our F250 is 22 foot long and our Cedar Creek is 42foot long, we will fit anywhere as long as its not an older KOA or State Parks. We do have to be careful and aware of our surroundings.

When CG reference the size they can accommodate they are typically referring to trailer length on that does not include the length of your TV. Campsite size is important to accommodate your tow vehicle when it is disengaged and for slides as well as other toys you are bringing along. 26 feet bumper to bumper will be fine in most CGs. Enjoy.

And it's not only the sites, its sometimes getting to the spot. Sometimes the roads are to crooked to allow a big camper.

I'm 58' bumper to bumper. I usually park my truck in overflow.

The length of your camper and TV are certainly considerations, but so is the height. Older parks especially do not keep trees properly trimmed for 5th wheel heights, resulting in scratching. So length and height are both considerations.

X2 on this but I have never been camping out west. I usually allow a couple feet longer than my trailer. Most will park their tv sideways across the front of a spot or in an overflow location if a site is too small. As also stated above, be aware of slide limitations with trees and power poles. I have 4 slides and current fiver is 40 feet so I am very limited in where I can park. Previous tt was 30' and 1 slide so very little limitations but did find a few places smaller would have Been better.

We have a FR 5er that is 34'. That is max for most state campgrounds. ITS TIGHT IN SOME. They (cg) do not count truck. There are only 6 sites in Yosemite for our trailer. They allow a 40 motor home but max is 34 trailer.
Always best to call CG. They will know best sites.

I thought the length limit was just for the trailer not the truck.

We have found that many national park and Forest service primitive campgrounds are older and have smaller sites. In Yellowstone you would have to stay at the concessionaire run campground since the no-hookup $8 sites are too small.

Look on Yellowstone web site, look under camping. They have all the campgrounds listed and what size camper spots.

Yellowstone

My wife and I were in Yellowstone this past August, our TT (27RLWS) is
31-1/2' OAL, and then add the F250 to that, we were fine, tight, but fine. We stayed at Fishing Bridge 4 nights, then moved on to West Yellowstone, as planned, which is about 40 minutes west, and stayed at Grizzly RV for 7 nights. Wow, what a difference! First off, we were glad to get out of all the constant noise and traffic, and move on! We wish we had booked our entire stay at Grizzly, the place is amazing, clean, QUIET, and plenty off room! Have fun!!!
