What is the height of the step now? Ground to step, step to truck?

It looks like you are in Michigan . . . I'm in Ohio and the Chevy dealer recommended AGAINST the motorized steps. With our winters, between the salt and the chunks of snow/ice that accumulate under the rocker panels, the running board/step doesn't always retract and the motor takes a hit.

We have a 2500HD Chevy CC with Fac.Steps. We carry a Rubbermaid folding 2 step, its is Perfect for my 91 year young mother and mother in law getting into the Front or Back seats! Also I need it to get into the BED of these HIGH trucks, and I am 6'1"! It is also handy to use around the Trailer! Youroo!!

Actually it is a little bit of a job to lower the front.

You'd need to buy.
new torsion keys and have them installed. "Average joe" would have a tough time installing the keys.
And depending on how low you go you may need shorter shocks.
Then you'd need to realign the front end.
The rear would require as you said new longer shackle brackets.
