Tst batteries

Just wanted to give everyone with the TST system for your TT a ("HEADS-UP"). My battery life is said to last 1 year. I had 2 batteries that went out before that. Well that's okay. But sometimes they are hard to find. I use a # 1632 the cost are around $6.00 bucks each at least at Walgreen's. That is for a everlast brand. Right now Amazon has them on sale for $11.00 bucks for a pack of 4 Duracell. Expiration date is 2024. If you have prime no S/H . Great deal stock up now. By the way just 2 questions.
1) do you remove yours doing the winter?
2) If your monitor is NOT turned on is the battery still giving off power?

Curious as well about as removing for winter. As far a using power when off I am going to say yes. The sensor would have no way of knowing whether the head unit would be on or off. So I would think they are always transmitting.

I have TST507. I take them off during winter season. Instruction says that when not in use (removed) it will not transmit when there is zero pressure. Battery will last longer.

The way OEM TPMS works the sensors broadcast once per hour when parked, once every 10-30 seconds while traveling. I imagine aftermarket such as TST are similar.

Thats a neat feature, not broadcasting with zero psi, makes winter storage a no brainer.

I found that the weight of the sensors cause the rubber tire valve stems to wiggle while towing. I now have rub marks on the wheel rims. Plus, I had a flat tire that I am sure was caused be the rubber valve stem failing. I changed all 4 wheels to metal valve stems.

I leave them on 24/7, batteries are not that expensive or that hard to find. Not worth the hassle. If one goes dead, will replace all of them at the same time.

Much cheaper on E-Bay. I have had good luck with batteries I get on E-Bay. I have tire tracker that uses the same batteries so I purchased some spare prior to this summers trip. I still have my original batteries installed. It is now 16 months. I take my sensors off whenever I am in storage but leave the batteries installed. Just don't want them stolen and no need to leave in the environment. Metal valves so no issue in that area.
