Pretty much grew up staying at state parks in Michigan. I think I have been to all of them. Seems like they are located on the best part of each lake in the best areas. Now that we have a 35 ft. TT I cannot get into most of them and they are mostly electric only. My pet peeve is waiting to dump on a Sunday when pulling out. I have waited many hours in line to dump and just will not do it anymore. I stay anywhere I can get full hookups. Not sure about other states but it seems like everyone goes "up north" on the weekends in Michigan and it gets worse all the time. I 75 turns into a parking lot on Sundays.

When traveling we will boondock or go to campground for night if we are done traveling early. If it's after 10 pm we will boondock don't want to disturb CG campers with late arrivals.

This weekend going to be at Cadorous SP, in Hanover PA. Attachment 110523
Don't get this kind of space or frontage at regular campground. Kerr Lake Recreation Area, Henderson NC
Thanks, I think it is something I need to just try. I do boondock when diving at a quarry and on over night stays at rest stops, just never as a whole trip.

I know this isn't on the subject, but I have a question I'd like to post, but I can't find the link/button to make a new post. Can anyone tell me where the button is to post a NEW POST?

Thank you!

I say boondock, but I meant a whole week of not having water and electric. Did the now sewer thing in NJ a few months ago with my tote as well just fine. Water should be fine in the tank. I guess it was the electric really..

Most All PA parks have electricity. Some parks (rustic) don't have full facilities and dependent on size of camper may have limited availability. 30 ft and under your good to go, 25 and under your golden. Over 40ft dependent on park could be few to out of luck.

Our preference is state parks and water district campgrounds. I receive the 50% off from Senior Pass when in Louisiana. Always reserve the full service premium sites with 50A, W, & S. $12 ~ $18 range in La. Ms. water parks run $15 ~ $25 with a senior discount.

Since we started camping in the 80's, we did mostly State Parks with just electric. Now that we are retired and have a 40' 5th Wheel we like full hook-ups and are willing to pay the price. We still do an occasional State Park now & again. Always on the Snowbird Trek to Florida it's the off again, on again KOA's for the one nighters, always clean always accommodating!

State and County($16-$24 per night) most of the time for us. We both still work full time so it's mainly weekends and I like online reservations. KOA is ok but overpriced for the most part. If I plan a trip I call ahead, if possible, to see if my camper will fit. I didn't opt for a generator so I always search for electric at the minimum but I prefer full hook ups. Down the road when we have more time to camp I want to boondock.

We hope to full time when we retire (12+ years) so it's nice to see these threads. Some of the acronyms I don't get COE for one...
