Ugh! Just my Luck!

Why is it when I decide to try out a new campground I always end up in a good news, bad news site? This is the first time we’ve reserved a campsite at the Gun Creek campground on Rend Lake. Here are three photos of the good and bad news.

First the good news. Our site has a beautiful view of the lake.

Now two photos of the bad news. The 50 amp outlet on the power post was upside down. This didn’t instill confidence in the wiring of the campground.

Also our site was not only very unlevel front to back, it was way off side to side also. Even with these two 2 inch boards we were still slightly off level.

Oh well, I guess this is just part of RVing.

I consider having the door side be the low side a cardinal sin of campgrounds. It's such a pet peeve of mine because it makes your door and steps even that much more off of the ground.

Beautiful site/view, though.

Appears that your 50 amp cord is starting to pull from your connector, the wires are showing from the strain.

Being from Minnesota I can't see any bad news there. I'm sitting in the house watching snow showers right now.

Our camping neighbor loaned us their portable step. It is working out much better than the Lynx Levels I was using in the picture. Our next purchase will be one of those steps.

I didn't notice that until I took the photo. I'm not happy about it.

If you want a cheap fix for the steps, go to thrift shopsor yard sales and look for an aerobic step, they are about 24 inches wide andyou can find addition risers for them, I got mine for $5.

My cord did the same thing. I wondered if it was me stepping on it to disconnect the 30amp adapter (neither end has a handle and it's a mofo to get them apart).

Hooked up without one. Maintenance came by yesterday and took care of both the 50 amp and the 20 amp outlets.

Normally the most I ever need is a 2 X 12 to bring it to level. In my current site I probably could have used another inch. Looking forward to seeing you again.

We have tent-camped Rend for years. This year we will use our trailer and will stick to Gun Creek, our favorite. We are only 60 miles away and look forward to the trip every time. Super facilities at a great rate.
