Upgraded my tow vehicle!

We purchased our 2012 30WKFSS V-Lite in January, and have only had time to do a single short "breaking things in" trip . But I quickly realized from research and from actually pulling the TT with our 2002 Chevy Avalanche 4x2 with 3.73 axle ( from home to storage to dealer, etc) that I had too much trailer for the truck, or too little truck for the trailer! I didn't feel safe driving that old of a vehicle on longer trips - especially towing a big TT -, and the recent windy conditions convinced us that even in short distances we might be endangering the life of the truck, ourselves, and others.

So we are keeping the 'Lanche for other purposes, but I traded in my Chrysler 300 for a 2011 Ford F250 4x2 with King Ranch package and 6.7 Powerstroke diesel. We checked out a new 2012 4x4 model of same truck first, were quite smitten but not quite at that price! So went home that night, found the 2011 on Internet, and went out and got it the next night!!!

Have not yet hooked it up to the TT yet (been a busy week at work!), but just know this thing will have no problem hauling it, and now don't have to worry about having water or any extra weight in it. And i will feel good taking longer trips too. Based on info in forums, will continue to use my WDH and sway bar.

Oh yeah, simply LOVE the truck so far! Going to learn it some more this weekend

I wanted to thank all of you that have helped educate me on many subjects, and also for the inspiration to become "A Ford truck man", since the F250 is a recurring theme out there. Now I can't wait to break this thing in properly!!!

Congrats on the new TV! Hopefully soon you will be able to break it in properly. So do you have any trips planned yet?

Congrats on the new F-250 Powerstroke.
Now you have too much truck for your little TT.
You now have to buy a new one at least 34 ft long and 12,000 lbs dry.

Just took my Flagstaff 832 FKBSS trailer for our first test run with my new 2011 F250 6.7 Diesel Lariat Crew Cab and it was great. Pulled like there was nothing behind it. What a great truck, built in braking electronics, Checklist for "before you tow", and sprung like a real truck. I know you'll enjoy it.

Time to upgrade to a 5th wheel

You're going to really enjoy towing with that new TV.

Pull anything you want! I recall the tow capacity for that truck is 17,000#'s. Set the cruise control and off you go. Mountains? What mountains??? Oh, I forgot, there are no mountains in FL.

Are you forgetting Mt. Dora? That's in Florida!

Welcome to the Ford club. When your towing, look back frequently just to remind yourself you have a trailer behind you.

I forgot about that high mountain. You'll need a long running head start to climb that 186' elevation.
