Vehicle Classifications for Tolls ?

Trying to figure out tolls for our trips and info is very vague on internet so does anyone know what type of classification my F350 SRW with a two axle fifth wheel is on GSP?

Is it a 2,3,4 classification?

I would count 4 axles.

It's the number of axles, so 4.

Towing my car behind the motorhome in Colorado, I was told I had to pay a 4-axle truck fee. Sitting in the toll booth lane, I told the toll taker I was going to get out right there and un-hook so I could pay the cheaper toll. I was threatened with arrest, so i just paid the higher toll, under protest.

On the New Jersey toll roads in 2015, the toll we paid for a motorhome towing a car was more than the total for a motorhome and a car separately! The girl in the toll booth said it doesn't make sense but that's their charge. It was specifically listed on the sign as motorhome towing, not four axles.

About 20 years ago, on a Florida toll road, I paid more for our car and single axle popup than the three axle dump truck in the lane beside us!

The toll for the SS Badger Ferry is More for a PU truck towing a 34' Trailer than a Semi Tri axle truck pulling a 50' trailer! Youroo!!

I think they do it bc they know we have no choice but to pay it. If you ever go from NJ to PA wrap your EZ Pass in Aluminum Foil bc PA river crossings can't differentiate between my truck towing a 2 axle trailer and a Semi. I got charged $16.00 once guy from ez pass told me this bc the actual toll is $.50 cents per axle so normally a $2.00 charge. I had to write ez pass and get my refund, what a PITA

Tricky to do when you wind up spending hours out of your way to avoid tolls. I have tried that and my time is more important I have just learned for the most part to pay tolls with Cash.

I agree with everyone in that there are 4 axles but be wary on the Erie canal parkway. They charged me for 4 axles and then charged me also for height. Go figure.

Our rig is like yours and in ohio and indiana we pay the same as semis. We avoid toll roads when reasonably possible.

In the Northeast (MA/NH/ME), once you have dual tires on any axle, you are a truck. Then they count axles and charge you the truck rate. The difference between two identical fifth wheels will depend on if the tow vehicle has dual tires. On my motorhome, I'm always a 'truck'.
