Sounds like your by-pass valve is on. Check by the water heater for the valve. I'm sure that you can get a better answer from someone here if you include the year and model of your camper.
Good Luck!

I had the same thing with our first trailer - Bypass was open allowing the cold and hot water to mix. Any bypass I have seen has always been at the back of the water heater in between the cold intake (bottom) and the hot outlet (top)

are you sure your WH doesn't also have electric heating?
i'm pretty sure yours should, check for a switch on the WH itself, from the outside access.
do you know what brand WH it has?

What you will normally see is two valves just before the entry to the tank - those should be open except when winterizing. Then another one that joins the two lines - that one should be closed except for winter. The following post has a picture of what you might see.

Yes. That is your bypass valve. Left open (handle in line with water line) will allow the cold water to mix with the hot. Results will be warm/cool water instead of hot.

Good luck and happy camping.

cebaker, find the panel inside that would be at the heater from the inside, mine is under the sink. close the valve that is vertical between the top and botom of the tank.

Dretired, I find the bypass valve this past weekend. It was one little screw that was hidden near floor to open the panel. Just wanted to let you know.
