Warranty reimbursements

Our RV is still under warranty. We had it serviced and they told us that because we didn't purchase our RV there, they do not deal with the warranty. We had to pay out of pocket and now we have to submit it for reimbursement. Is this common? I've called every number I have and I keep getting transferred to the same voicemail of someone that does not return their calls. Is there another way to submit this?

Did they say this before they did the work? Sadly, RV warranties (and boats) are not like car warranties, where you can get it fixed at any dealer. Some RV dealers will turn your warranty work away, others move you to the bottom of the list, and others don't care. It is certainly something to consider when you shop for an RV. Purchase price isn't everything.

They did not tell us before they did the work. One of our AC units stopped working on 7/3. I called hoping to get in that day but they were about to close. So I made an appointment to have it serviced on the 5th. She gave me a number of a mobile RV tech. They told me that he specifically deals with the warranties. Unfortunately the mobile guy couldn't come out for several days but because she specifically specified that the mobile guy deals with the warranty, I assumed that they do too. That seems like it would have been a good time to tell me that they don't. They also had that opportunity to do so when I dropped off our rig or even a phone call to inform me of the issue before actually performing the work. They didn't say anything about the warranty or cost until I went to go pick it up. I'm actually wondering now if that is even legal.
You are correct. It is not like buying a car. There seem to be many more expenses.

You're supposed to get pre-approval from FR to be reimbursed.

If Ac problem, call dometic, if that's the manufacturer, and see if where you took it is a certified authorized dealer. If so, have their people call dealer.

I ran into that problem, called nearest dealer, they said we don't sell that brand so no warranty work. I told them dometic said they were authorized to fix. Service Manager sighed, and told me to bring it in. They have since done warranty work twice on Ac. Replaced both times
