Washing / Waxing Questions

I am fairly new to the 5th wheel world and have some questions about washing & waxing unit.

> Dealer service tech said that all he uses on his is Johnson & Johnson Baby Wash as it has no harsh chemicals.

> Detailer at an RV park said all he uses is Turtle Wax Car Wash

> I called the Turtle Wax information line and they said that use on RV wasn't stated on the carwash packaging and that if used it was at my own risk.

> Would you recommend waxing with the Turtle Wax ICE, or 303 protectant. I really don't want to compromise the decals.

> I have been washing with the baby wash out of caution.

> This is probably old news to most of you, but a friend suggested I use dryer sheets soaked in the baby wash for removing the bugs from the front cap, it works like a champ, not much elbow grease required.

I've used turtle wax ice on my tracer 3200bht a few times now with no issues.

For fiberglas siding, I like either McGuires RV/Marine products or Colinite fleetwax.

Yes the dryer sheets work great for bug removal...simply dampen it slightly in water and bugs come right off. 303 prtoectant is great for decals as it doesn't dry them out. I have used it on the gelcoat finish of the trailer but it has a tendency to streak, using sparingly seems to be whats best, however even when I used it sparingly it still leaves streaks..although it is a UV inhibitor, it doesn't quite do what wax does. I still think wax is the way to go on everyhting but the decals. 303 is great on decals and things like black rubber around windows, tires, and the rubber on slideouts. I think a combination of the 2 is what works best.

I use Nu Finish, no wax, a polymer.
Works great over the gel coat and decals

I tend to use dish soap on everything for washing and Meguier's RV Wax (I believe is used #56 the last time, not sure what the difference is.) 303, Armor All or some equivalent for the tires, rubber trim, slide seals, etc. I like the dryer sheet idea!

I, and many of my friends, use Turtle Wax Wash and Dry. Goes on easy, leaves a great shine, seems to protect as well as anything and is cheaper than McGuires.

I like Maguires NXT polymer finish. Goes one very easy and wipes off easily even after 24 hrs. It also stands up to washing better and provides a slick finish so bugs wipe off easily. For washing, I use Premium Gel-Gloss wash/wax.

Washing RV up high

Any recommendations for washing the upper part of the exterior? I am too short to reach that high, and don't want to hassle with constantly moving the ladder. Do they sell a good brush type of device on a long pole?

I can get the wax that is used in car washes and spray it on with my pressure washer at low pressure. Has anyone ever tried this?
