Cherry Hill Park Cherry Hill Park is the Closest Campground to Washington, DC :|: Cherry Hill Park
And the Grey Line Tour or the Metro are great for the tourist thing. See above website.

Planning vacation for the summer of 2013 to DC. I haven't decided to take the RV or drive and stay in a hotel. That's about a 2400 mile round trip. Just weighing my options right now.
Thanks

We took 165 people in 76 RVs to the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC last spring, staying at Cherry Hill RV Park in College Park, MD. The place is absolutely spotless, and the staff could not have been more friendly and accomodating.
We're working on a return there during the first week of April, 2013, and will be staying there again. I highly recommend them.

You might enjoy:

I recommend 3 nights or more at Lakepoint State Park to tour Eufuala, rent a boat and fish, and maybe tour Jimmy Carter Country about 50 miles away.

WEMig,as stated Cherry Hill Park is literally the closet to DC.Your probably at that point a 20-30 minute drive to most of the good sightseeing points. That being said, the only down side is you are very close to the race track we call the Beltway.Don't know what the noise level is like. But you probably wouldn't be spending your time sitting in your 320 anyway.I have been through there once to dump my black tank, and even considered staying there when we lost power for over a week.It looks to be a decent campground and when you consider that staying in a decent hotel room (not a motel6 trust me I know) in this area, you are looking at $100+ easy!!

Are there any campgrounds that offer shuttle service to DC that are located on the south side of DC as I95 comes in? We are considering this trip in the spring.

Thanks for all of the helpful replies. Looks like Cherry Hill will be at the top of our list. I've traveled to D.C. on business half a dozen times and am familiar with the transit system. Its pretty easy to get around. Thanks.
