Water Filters What Do You Use
I currently use the inline Camco blue water filter but wondering what everyone else uses if any. I was thinking of switching to the Camco EVO Canister now that I have a 5th wheel with a water dock

Did your rig come with the commonly installed Forest River inline water filter?

Mist folks need a taste filter to improve the ex swimming pool stuff in most municipal sysyems.
Charcoal does the best.

wicked1...I am in same boat as you...have been using the Camco blue torpedo...like that I can throw it in the fridge between camping trips to lessen chances of "stuff" growing in it. But I do wonder just how effective it is, so I have been looking at Home Depot set ups as well....you say you have a 5th with a water dock??? What exactly is that?

This a place to enclose the filters and water connections

I use the factory-installed WaterPur CCI-10-CLW filter housing with the F1Pb filter that BandJCarm linked to. The WaterPur FR1 filter housings are problematic but the CC1 doesn't have many reported problems.
If you have nothing from the factory, I'd highly recommend the housing and filter that BandJCarm linked to.
When it comes to water filters, you get what you pay for.

filters
I use the blue at the connection to city water, and I have the standard in house filter. I also sanitize my tank as directed. However we never drink from the tank of city systems. Ever. Simply too many variables. For instance the water at the Air Force park at Canyon Lake inTexas is drawn from the lake. The filters are clogged with green stuff constantly.
We only use the tank or city water to bathe in, and use bottled water for cooking or drinking. Period. We boil water to wash dishes, and pour boiling water over the dishes in the rack after pre-rinsing.
When we are dry camping in our Elk Camp, we draw water from a spring. I still don't drink that.

The 1st mod on any new unit I do is completely remove and bypass any inhouse filter. I use the blue inline filter at the supply connection.

I've used this one for the last 3 years. It had good ratings and seems to do the job. I change it out once a year. I use a 90deg. brass hose tap off the trailer city water input and hang it there (as opposed to placing it at the city water faucet as others often do) because I like to filter AFTER the hose.

What level of filtering do you want? And what all do you want it to apply to?
For instance, I often just run the base water filter in the rig for house water. Anything we drink is ran through a Berkey water filter. We fill 2 gallon jugs and keep them in the fridge. Before the Berkey, we would buy about 12 gallons of water a week.

The same Camco Inline filter you use. It filters out everything the others do and some things that most do not.

X2 My fresh water hose is a dedicated part of my fresh water system. I see no earthly reason to allow anything that may come out of the faucet that I don't want in any part of the water system.

I don't think the make of the filter housing matters much...the filtration is all in the filter and there are all sorts to chose from. One quick story: we were camped near Olympic National Park and a fellow on a neighboring campsite asked how we were handling the brown water. We had been there for a couple of days, and the water in our rig was running clear. I was using the basic white sediment filter in the clear housing that came with my Cardinal, and when I took a look at it...it was black. I replaced it with a new one, and that's what I've used ever since with no issues re: taste or color.

I use this one (Camco Tastepur Inline Blue Filter) and usually let water run at CG before I hook up my dedicated water stuff to allow crap in lines at CG to clear before hooking up, so far had good luck but then we use a Brita inside as well, but for Drinking we bring bottles

Camco in-line works very well for us and we don't have to fiddle with the aggravation and expense of whole house filters and winterizing.
