Water Heat - Silly Newbie Question

Newbie here with a 2017 24QXBL...it has a 6 gallon DSI water heater. How long can I safely run the water heater? Does it reach a certain temperature and turn off like a house water heater and then back on when it needs to?

Or do I just turn it off and on when I know that I will need hot water?

Sorry for the newbie questions.

They have thermostats on the water heater tank wall that will turn off the heating source once the temperature is reached. The t'stats are usually not user settable and are usually around the 130 degree range + or -.

Usually, you just turn on your water heaters DSI switch inside the RV, and the heater burner will come on and heat till the temp reaches 130 and it shuts off. Just leave the switch on, and the thermostat will kick the burner off/on as needed.

Not knowing what brand or model you have, this thread may help too, even if you don't have the additional electric heating element.
