Water Pressure

Going to order a water pressure regulator. What’s good, what’s bad? And more importantly what pressure should it be set to? TIA

We just use the one from Wally World. No adjustments and has been working great. Just remember it's the first thing after the site connection. I forgot once and wound up buying a new water hose as my fresh water hose looked like a fire hose when we got back from shopping.. lol

I use one that's pre-set to 60 psi. Others prefer lower pressure. I have never had a problem and would not hook up without it.

I like the ones that are adjustable and have a gauge.
They seem to be better built.
You should set it between 40 and 60 psig. I keep mine set about 50 psig.

Here's the one I bought. It has the 3/4 hose connectors included.

Brass RV Water Regular.

The cheapo inline ones are cheap for a reason. They have a small orifice inside and can easily plug up with silt and debris and you can end up having to replace them every once in a while. I ended up going all in and installed a Watts 263A regulator under our kitchen sink near the city water inlet. It's not only adjustable but can be rebuilt if ever needed. I blow our lines out and has never been a problem from freezing. Have it set for 65 psi as recommended to me by rvwaterfilterstore.net. Never have a flow or pressure issue unless the CG pressure is low.

I also installed a gauge after the regulator and a "telltale" gauge before it. Have seen as high as 140 psi so far somewhere out there in our travels. Have read reports of as high as 200 psi.

If you connect a regulator at the city water inlet or inside an RV, it's recommended you use a hose with a high burst pressure rating. We have a Valterra one.

X2 on this one. We have our set to 45 and it is the first connection to the water supply. Been working great for third season now.

X3, set to same pressure.

We bought a good one a few years ago and would recommend it. Haven't had any issues with it.

Like has been said hook up the regulator first then everything else after. This way if you have high pressure you don't risk possibly bursting a hose.

I have the quality regulator, worth the money. Be sure to store the regulator where it can not freeze. Even after blowing out my first one was damaged being outside. Even though my stupidity the company sent me a new regulator.

I have that one too. But, being the wild Maverick that I am, I quit using any regulators 2 years ago. I get as much pressure/flow as possible and take nice showers, and have never had any plumbing issues whatsoever........and have camped at hundreds of locations.

I was wondering if you adjust the pressure with the water running or with everything shut off except the supply because I can't get mine to change from the factory setting. It comes with no instructions.

Should be flat blade screw in the top of the cap for setting pressure. Can be set with no water flow and just the source connected and on.

I always hook mine up and leave the outlet closed until I verify the setting when turning on water supply. Then open outlet to camper once verified.

It really doesn't matter with these. However, you're never going to get more pressure than is present at the campground faucet.

I use a splitter with valves and shut the valves off until I adjust pressure to 45psig and then open the valve(s).

I have the same Watts 263a that redracer has. Pay for it once and be done. After reading here I recommended the Renator to my BIL and it failed within a year.
