water tank fill and breather

Hello friends. I filled my camper with water today and it seemed as if the tank was breathing just fine and i wanted to run a tank of water through the spickets to clean out everything as it is a new camper to my family and we bought it as a repo. We filled the tank and I was working the air out of the line and water seemed to be gowing fine and it started getting air and then good water then air again with less pressure. I checked and no leaks after I stopped some I heard a gurgling in the fill cap and didnt seem to be getting any relief once I loosened the fill cap it gurgled down quick. Any advice is very helpful.

did you fill tank all the way ? on some units when it spits water out as your filling it may be no where near full .
Some units require to fill very very slowly .

now here the next thing . IF you did in fact get most of the tank full when you turned on your water pump the hw heater immediately gets filled before any thing else .
and the starting and stopping might have been your hw tank filling .
I always open my pressure reilf valve at the top of the hw heater to aid in filling . If you don't you get a lot of air from filling the tank with out air escaping . all that air has to go through the system .

I'm sorry I know im not very good at describing lol. I feel like a idiot to ask where can i locate the hot water heater and I thought it was prob full when I had water spitting back out with the garden hose stuck in the fill. It was clear the white with bubbles then clear then it got white then clear for a sec again. I think when it gets white its just alot of bubbles. it doesnt have a ton of pressure when it gets white. I noticed in the bath it wasnt alot of pressure on cold then when i turned both cold and hot on it had decent pressure.

Dont feel like an idiot - we all had to start somewhere.

how about a year and model of your trailer so we can help identify the location since it seems each model has a specific location of where the hot water heater is.

Maybe your house filter is clogged or the pump has a filter that is clogged as well causing the pressure to be greatly reduced.

I suspect you are suffering the from the two problems described above, low water in your tank and an empty water heater. I know those little scrappers only hold 6 or 10 gallons, but they seem to hold 50 when you are trying to get them filled in the spring.

My last camper was the worlds slowest to fill the water tank. You would put 5 gallons in and it would "burp" 4 of them back in you face. It would take hours to fill the water tank... what a royal pain!

Just keep trying to add water and open the hot water faucet in the kitchen and let it run until it quits blowing air or spitting. I drape a dish cloth over my faucet to keep from splashing water all over the kitchen.

may want to also check the air vent line on water tank. Bugs love to plug these if the screen is not there.

My screen is clogging with rust. Stainless would have been nice.
I will need to replace the whole shebang soon.

Its a 2008 831 bhss. The screens still in there but bont know how to know its not clogged. Thank you all lots for helping me out.

I can actually see my screen. It is right next to my fill port.

Herk, just cut the rusted screen out and silicone a screen from a faucet in its place. They are stainless.

Good idea! Right now the cap cord is broken too. A new one might just be on the horizon before the summer is out.
