I have read not to wax over the decals on the RV as it seals them and will cause them to delaminate. Am planning to wax our V-Lite for the 1st time next month and will use Meguairs Flagship, the same as we use on our 36' Flybridge boat. I do the hull every three years and the deck each spring. I have used Meguairs Premium (auto) on our vehicles for several years and very pleased with it.

We get a lot of sun here and the Meguairs products provide good protection and I am very picky. I apply and remove the wax using an inexpensive orbital buffer - no chance of burning the finish, with terry cloth pads (from WalMart).

Hadn't heard of the Opti-Seal product, but will look into it.

Kerrlakelover....on your inexpensive orbital polisher to apply the wax, is the applicator a certain material? is it a microfibre material, a terry cloth material?

mark0224....you are right...many people have reported that after a couple years their decals have started checking from the use of wax...others have had no isuues...guess it depends on the wax used.

Rick
WFD/Rick, I just use a terry cloth mit. I prime it really good with the wax and then just start applying the wax just like i would with my hand. Of course there are still areas you will have to do by hand (narrow places between 2 windows, etc), but it works great for the majority of the FW.

Yup a dryer toss in. I had a lot of bugs on both the truck and nose cone. Use the dryer drop in softener and they cleaned right up.

I wax twice a year, I use the paste turtle wax. It's fast and easy, I wax my decals never heard not to do them. If you are going to be in Goshen at the rally, the guy will probably be there at the vendor tent. He has a product that you use on the front and no bugs will stick on. You just hose them off no rubbing or anything. Will have to get more this year.

WD-40 works great taking anything off paint. Bugs, tar, decal adhesive, etc. Just plan on washing afterwards, leaves oily streaks but washes right off.

I have been using wax that our line crew uses on our acft, I do my 5er 3 times a year once in the spring, in the summer, and at the end of the season, the entire trailer is still beading after 2 months except the cap, it get waxed every few weeks to keep it nice and shiny, i got it in a 5 gal container at a aviation trade show in miami a few years ago. it is about $150.00 a gallon

Think I will use the 303 aerospace for Decals and Gel-Gloss wax and McGuires RV/Boat cleaner wax for every place else. Right now I just can't wait for snow to go so I can get started on all my projects.
