Welcome Bear Attacked
Bummer! Our little Silverback bear that welcomes folks to our campsite has been attacked by an insect and has suffered damage. He is currently in isolation and being treated for a wood eating larvae from what I think was a Powderpost beetle. The damage has been confined to the based of the sculpture and I think I can repair it. I didn't even think about such a scenario when I bought him.
Here's a pic of him in happier days.

Must be the start of an epidemic. A friend of ours has a carved bear in front of their permanent site. The base is being devoured by something.

I think the problem is from not cleaning up after your animals.

LOL, too funny.
Actually that's how we discovered the infestation, we had to clean up wood powder he was leaving behind.

Had a house once that had the beetle in the door trim. They bored out of the wood years after the house was built.

Time to call the Pest Control Company. I think he needs a vaccination... second thought a shot of Wild Turkey 101 might take care of it.
