Uh, really? The Eco boost, and the F-150 is nothing like the F-250. Please don't get me wrong...I think the Eco boost is a great truck, especially given its capabilities. But it is not a SuperDuty. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the F-150 Ecoboost for many trailering options, even smaller 5th wheels, but when it comes to the big boys, or lots of mountain/hill trailering, you need the right tool for the job.

Heh...looks just like my truck! Nice. And yes, those tow mirrors can't be beat. Electric folding/extending, heated. The first truck I looked at were the manual mirrors. I was already looking to replace them. But someone snatched that truck before I could get it. And it was for the better anyway. The truck I ended up with had the good mirrors already.

Holy Hype on that Ecoboost... Eco is nice and will get you more power in lower RPM's but it's not going to get you more payload, bigger frame, bigger trans, bigger axels, bigger body, etc...

The Superduty is made to haul... If you want to compare the two "apples to apples" you'd have to get the max tow on an F150 which is still a couple thousand #'s less towing capacity. (and less payload). It's also probably going to end up with a higher sticker price at that point.

That diesel will get you power all the way through the power band... Not just down low.

1... The reason for me personally ..is the ability to go to a 10,500 - 11,500 lb 5th wheel in the future ( when one of those deals... that are too good to pass on.. come along ) AND... pretty much load the stuff in the truck and coach that we want to take with us ..on any given trip. 2. what i would have paid for a 2012 F 150 Ecoboost equipped to the Max..would have been 3k-4k more.. than what i paid for my 2012 F250 diesel..

No, I don't HAVE the Eco boost, but was thinking when I get a new truck, hopefully next year, I will get the Eco boost, for the better gas mileage. Was wondering why, did he not get the Eco boost.

Was just saying that my current truck has the upgrades that make it the same as the 250. Should also correct my error that it has the 3.73 axle, and 139 wheel base. I have the same towing capabilities as a F250 that has the smaller 5.4 engine.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm certainly not a truck expert.

those 5.4 f250s were anemic at best for towing....that just wasnt enough motor for the truck....i had a tuned 5.4 fx4 supercab f150 that cried towing a 24ft trailer...yeah it did it....and a lot more it probably shouldent have.....lol...but i digress

while your towing numbers may be similar, the tow QUALITY of the f250 still would have been much nicer without a doubt....remember, properly equipped (ie more power) those trucks were in the 14k range max towing...so while the 5.4 was weak and the limiting factor in the advertised numbers, the truck still had all the underpinnings of a 15k tow vehicle...brakes, tranny, frame....in the end it would have been a much better tow if you were comparing max vs max on the 150 and 250....

the ecobeast is in another world as far as numbers go, but even then with max pay and tow its no where near the 14k rating the max 2004 f250 would have been with the diesel...but it sure does tow like one....the fuel economy is overrated if you ask me, because no one can drive the things and stay out of boost..LOL....
