Went with the F 250 .. So excited !!

After much research ...and thought.. a deal came along i couldnt pass on. I was almost going to buy a new F150 4x2 ,supercrew.6.5 box .xlt trim , 3.73 limited slip rear axel, Heavy duty payload package , Max towing package. 11,300 lb towing capable and 2,300 lb payload capacity.....BUT ..a 2012 F 250 Super Duty, XLT ,Supercab, Diesel , 4x2,.appeared on Autotrader..It was a Ford Executive vehicle that had 3,300 miles on it. This truck should handle whatever our next 5th wheel is going to be in the future. any one with experience using the integrated brake controller .please let me know. i will try and post a pic or 2 soon ..thanks

The integrated brake controller is vastly superior to add-on products. I find that it particularly beneficial in light braking applications. I believe it works off of the master cylinder pressure so it knows exactly how hard you are braking. You'll love it AND your new truck. Congratulations!

Congrats on your new truck, but we need to see some pics!

Sounds like you came across a great deal and you'll love the intergrated brake controller. Easy to operate and very smooooooooth!

I know it's not my business but since I'm dreaming of a new rig myself
I gotta ask--
What did you pay for it

You're gonna love that truck. It pulls like a dentist on a dead tooth! The IBC is great. I have mine set on about 6.5 and I have never had any issues, especially in normal controlled braking. I've had two "emergency" stops. They weren't extreme, but did have my heart skipping a beat. But the truck and trailer both stopped fine. I had to pick up some stuff in the trailer when we got to our destination, but better than picking ourselves up off the side of the road!

Exactly. Of course, your setting may vary, but once it's set, it stays. Did you get the 4" Information Screen with your truck (big screen in the dash instead of the normal screen)? If so, you also get information when you hook up your trailer. It goes through a checklist for you (though I have not played with that yet). Pretty neat stuff.

By the way, great price. You practically stole that truck. What kind of options did it come with?

i really like the simplicity of the brake setup...initially i had my trailer set on 7, but after a few thousand miles noticed it wasnt stopping as well so it went up to 8.5...i need to check the brakes....seems to me they should be working a "touch" better, but thats just me. Now on my boat trailer, 6.5 will put the tires on LOCKDOWN....so its adjusted a tad under taht..I like that you can set up diff trailers and just toggle between them on the info panel and your all set. You will absolutely LOVE that truck for towing.....that is really where it shines...and you got a great deal to boot, so its win, win for you!!

Enjoy

I have a 2012 F350 4x4 Lariat with the 6.7. These trucks have unbelievable power. Practice with the gain on your brake control. Once it is where you want it, leave it. Mine has the 4 inch display and will remember up to 5-6 different trailer settings when attaching the various trailers. Just remember, Diesels need to be maintained. Follow the schedule in your manual. Your gonna love this truck.

Its black ...with the adobe (tan) interior.. I would have prefered a lighter color..(easier to keep clean) but couldnt pass the price up ! having the dealer install the contoured mud flaps tommorow...

Congrats and you will be alot happier with that than what you were planning on getting. I have a 2012 SWD F350 with the 6.7 and Steve 7575 is right, they are workhorses. A longtime friend of mine who is a Ford diesel mechanic told me to do the scheduled maintenance, oil every 5,000 and fuel filters every 10,000, drain the fuel separator every month. Don't do any "tuning" and the scorpion motor has been very reliable for Ford. As far as the IBC goes, I have a 30' tt and I set mine at 5.5. It is very smooth stopping in city or highway. You set it and forget it. I believe you made a good choice and will be happy with it. Can't tell from pics, is that a short or long bed. Mine is short and has a 26 gallon fuel tank which is the only gripe I have.

I think you will be happy with your choice. I hear from many regarding the new Ford Econo, but I still think that they may not be that good with a 10 or 11 thousand pound 5er. I have a F250, 2011, CC, diesel, 2WD, longbed and I remain very pleased with its performance. Good luck and happy trails. Glad you got a good deal.

Congrats on the truck! We also just brought a 2012 Ford F250 4x4 Diesel Lariat and just LOVE IT! You don't even know the camper is back there. But we choose it because of down the road we are going to upgrade to a fifth wheel.
