What app are you using to point your satellite dish?

Well, I'v decided that my tailgater just isn't doing the job because it has a hard time finding all the satellites for Dish Network so I'm going back to the old style dish.
What are the apps that you all are using? There are quite a few out there and it's hard to decide which one to use so I thought I'd check out to see what everyone else is using.
Getting ready to go camping

Thanks

Mark

Dish Pointer Pro is the best as far as I'm concerned. And as the most recent threads about these issues have come about my automatic response is the Tailgater is not a good camping dish. If not at the beach or an open field while camping it should only be used for tailgating. The Pathway X2 has provided outstanding Dish service for me since I purchased it, without question.

If you have DISH Network use "dish for my RV". "Dish Align" is another great product and displays all satellites. Both are free.

I recently got the X2, and love it. But you can also download a hard copy of a spread sheet. You look up the zip code and the spreadsheet tells you where to point the dish to. I always used old school compass though

The Pathway X2 is the only one that will track east and west Dish Network satellites. Love it.

I also use Dish Pointer Pro and a Pathway X2. Use the Dish Pointer just to find a clear shot to the satellites, turn the Pathway on and let it do its thing. It is a really good combination.

Just what DSurette said. We use SatelliteAR on Android to "sight in" a clear path through the trees, plunk the Pathway X2 down in that spot, and watch it do its thing. Its entertaining to watch even.

My old SD Direct TV box tells me azimuth and elevation based upon zip code and a Field Compass free app is my old school compass. Takes a minute or ten, but the dish , cable, tripod and signal strength meter can be had for about sixty bucks. Hey nobody steals it either.

I use "Satellite Director" on Android. You can use it with both Dish and Directv because it will locate all of the satellites for both (and other) networks.

Dish Pointer Pro WAS an awesome app......however.......I purchased it back around 2009. Last fall when when I picked my my new Samsung S7 I forgot to de-install the license. Emails sent to the support have went unanswered for months and without that license the app is locked. Previously those license snafus were answered quickly and provided by their support. I snooped around. Dish Pointer Pro had a forum on Satelliteguys.us. That forum does not exist anymore. I found numerous comments at other places regarding the app and it appears it is now abandonware but still availible for purchase on the app stores. You can buy it and a new license will come, but make sure you deinstall when changing phones. If you lock the app up there is no support. I could not bring myself to spend another $20 on something already paid for out of principal. Lots of free apps now exist.

I've been trying to find that spreadsheet with no luck. Where is it?

Go to www.mydish.com/support/installation-manuals-page, there you can pick out the type of dish that you have and download the file

My receiver displays pointing angles if I enter a nearby ZIP code. I find these to be very close and usually work.

ALSO - I get the antenna setup and pointing angles from the antenna installation manual. I find a nearby ZIP code and look up the AZ, EL and SKEW, look down near page 10. I have a copy of the manual on my web site and keep a copy in my MH:

http://2001mirada.com/DOWNLOAD/DISH_...tion_Guide.pdf

It normally doesn't take me more than ten minutes to get the antenna setup and pointed.
