Bruce Willis ended this debate last year during his Comedy Central Roast. Even he says Die Hard is not a Christmas movie.

You spoiled my Christmas surprise, Ebenezer.[emoji16]

Yeah, that's what was stated, that Bruce said "it wasn't a Christmas movie, but was a Bruce Willis movie."

The Fathom Events (Turner Classic Movies) have Ben Mankiewicz come on before and after the movie, giving a lot of trivia and facts about the movie. It's always pretty interesting. He told us to stay tuned during the pre-opening as they were going to discuss after the credits if "Die Hard" was in fact a "Christmas movie" as many consider it.

Fathom events is showing Die Hard again in theaters this Wednesday, if you may want to see it on the big screen.

Hate to give away the ending if you do go see it, so don't want to state a spoiler as to what Ben said if it was or was not a Christmas movie.

P.S. One of my best friends son married a a fellow classmate when they were both studying for their doctorate degree at college. She was originally from overseas and had never seen the movie 'Jaws'. Fathom events showed it a awhile back and they (including her) went with us. I watched her jump and almost scream at that part that gets everyone with the head. I asked her after the movie how she liked it and her comment was "It's intense". It just wouldn't have had the same effect watching it on television.
TCM or History or Animal Planet is what you will find our TV tuned too. I seen the Die Hard screening this weekend on TCM but alas I don't think I will have chance to see it.

It is all one's perception as Bruce said in "The Fifth Element" when the police knocked on his door. "No one here but us meat popsicles"

Die Hard is a Christmas movie

Die Hard is a Christmas movie
Die Hard is a movie that happens to take place around Christmas. There's a difference.

Die Hard is a Christmas movie

20th Century Fox decided to get into this debate on whether it is a Christmas Movie or not a few days ago. They made a new trailer for it, which cracked me up to no end.

I love movies of various genres involving travelling to & from or around foreign countries . The more exotic the countries, the better. A few that come to mind that inspire a person to want to travel and see what the world has to offer are:

The Motorcycle Diaries, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, The Bourne Identity, Long Way Round, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Out of Africa. And from back in the olden days of B&W TV and rabbit's ears: Gunga Din, The Great Escape, The African Queen. I just wish I could tow our TT all over the world...

I was watching Die Hard on IFC as they are running 24 hours of it.

They have Reginald VelJohnson (the actor who played Sgt. Al Powell) hosting the marathon.

They did a commercial thing awhile ago, where Reginald talked about whether it's a Christmas movie or not. All the reasons he gave for it were hilarious. I really laughed at his final one which was "I ought to know as I was there".

It is funny how many are playing on this. It's great marketing.
