What do you like better Dry camping or full hookups

I prefer full hookups since I am usually accompanied by my children and grand children.

Boondocking first (out off on a little road, not in a campground) first; dry camping second; full hookups third and RV parks/KOA absolutely dead last.

Nice to have hookups but not at the price at being nose-to-nose with other campers.

The question was about hookups - but most of the answers are more about the kind of campground where the hookups are located - with full hookups often come neighbors close by.

I'm wondering whether folks go to a campground (not dry camping at wallyworld) and don't use / pay for the hook ups even if they are available. Does it make a difference whether you are just stopping for the night or staying more than a day or two?

We prefer full hookup's, but do camp a couple times a year boondocking. We have friends that wont go unless they have full hookup.

the state parks we go to usually have electric only- if they offer full hook ups we go for it

It depends on where and when. I prefer full hook-ups on the first outing of the season, so I can check everything out, and for the last outing of the season, when I can flush everything in preparation for the long winter. For most of the year, electric-only is nice, although I do a few dry camps a year. Lately, though, beetle kills have ruined some of the best dry camping areas in the state, and significantly reduced the amount of shade available on a hot mid-summer day.

As long as we have electricity to run the 32" telly, I'm good.

Other than that, more remote locations for privacy is prefered....which means "dry" i guess....would do it all the time if only we could watch dvd's/TV....

We will do either but prefer full hookups. Our Honda EU3000is keeps us powered up nice and quietly when we have to dry camp and we can run up to 20hrs on a tank of fuel. One provincial park we dry camped at last year a guy and his wife walked by and comented that our generator was so quiet it would put them to sleep. We keep it in the truck box as it helps with noise.

We do both, full hookups are nice,just depends on where we are at. We also have a 3000 watt generator, so when we do dry camp we can charge the camper batteries and our camera batteries.

If I am in the mountains or desire to go to a national park or national forest...then boondocking...I just love this term (lol). If I am in Florida and not at the above....electric sites at a state park is my choice.

The two photos where the awning is extended are both spots in the White Mountains of Arizona in Apache National Forest, near Big Lake. The two photos where the awning is retracted are two locations on the Mogollon Rim of Arizona in Sitgreaves National Forest, near Woods Canyon Lake.
