What Have You Been Paying for Propane?

I am interested to know how much people are paying for propane across the country. It would also be interesting to know where in the country and what type of businesses you have purchased from.

I purchase my propane from an Amish hardware store in New Holland, PA for 35 cents per pound. Last year, the price crept up to the highest ever at 50 cents per pound, but for most of the year it was 40 cents per pound.

Right now, I am paying 35 cents per pound, so, to fill a 30# tank costs me $10.50.

If I purchased at my campground, the cost is a flat-rate of $30.00 for a 30# tank. If my tank is half full, it would still cost me $30.00. At the Amish hardware store, the propane is weighed, so you get what you pay for.

I'll have to check the tractor supply but think they are 1.99 a gallon maybe. I only fill up maybe once a season for a 30lbs tank so I am not really to worried..

That’s not bad at about $14.00 for a 30# tank.

just paid $2.05/gal at the local propane utility. our town does not have a natural gas utility. the town is piped to deliver propane via the underground pipe network to your house. your household appliances must be rejetted to run on propane. they also have a card they stamp each time you do a tank fillup. after 5 stamps they give you a free 20 lb fillup.

We have bought propane all over the country, from all kinds of businesses. When we need it, we just Google for the closest seller. I never really pay attention to actual cost but have noticed it varies wildly. Seems to be cheaper at large distributors, RV parks, and U-Haul.

What I like about Tractor Supply is you only pay for the propane that is actually pumped in the tank. Most places have a flat rate

SW Washington is running around $2.69 + Sales Tax per gallon. Nobody sells by weight around here.

cost of propane

I fill up at Costco in Victoria, B.C., Canada. A 30# tank usually costs me about $18.00 Cdn. If I fill up at the RV park it is $1.05/lb so costs me almost twice as much. Costco weighs tank first, RV park does not. Other places in our area are about $1.00/lb

Southern Indiana, local propane dealer $26 for a 30# tank.
Fair enough for this area considering what we pay for home propane....

At many places you will likely pay for a full recharge whether it is empty or not. They don't scale it, just fill it and charge you for a minimum of 4.5 gal.

Depending on local taxes, you can plan on $16 to $18, which is still better than a tank exchange.

If you are using propane for heat, get a small electric space heater and use shore power at the campground to cut your costs.
