What is your definition of Glamping

OK I was reading another thread when someone brought up the term Glamping. What is your definition of Glamping?

Is it my sister-in-law's 30 foot ish 5th wheel; with two slides, 36 inch tv that rises out of a counter, multiple air-conditioners, imitation electric fire place that will produce some heat, two large slides, etc., etc., etc....

or Is my 21 foot 2017 Coachman Apex RBK 215: with the TV that can be seen from both the sleeping and living area, outside kitchen (man I do not think I could live without it now), 4 foot slide, led lights, large kitchen sink (swmbo thinks that is the cats meow), pull down house type kitchen faucet, more storage than I have ever had in a travel trail.

If you compare my current rig to my first tent-trail that I bought used back in the early 90's, which was a single tip out Jayco, with about a 6' by 6' box, a manual water pump that sort of worked, a 5 gallon tank for fresh water, a icebox that did not work as well as a standard ice chest and a two burner stove. Does that make my Apex Glamping/Glamper or just an upgrade

I also understand that my Jayco was was a upgrade when you compare it to our first tent that my family started out in years ago. So after saying all of that, is Glamping just a state of mind?? Or is it the tents or cabins that you see set up with regular beds, bottles of wine and all of the enmities you might see the fancy condominiums.

GS story here... My almost 4 YO GS was camping with DD and friends over the weekend and we went down to see him and fantasize about camping... He kept saying he wanted to go camping and I said several times.. honey you are camping. He finally said. No. Not in the trailer!. I was like this kid has something wrong with him. I guess he was meaning tent camping. Looks like this old fat boy is gonna be sleeping on the ground sometime.

Anything that has a bed and has to be towed is glamping in my book. Around my parts the best campsites are hike in and/or primitive though. The only reason I have the trailer is because my wife won't go into a tent or hike, but on the plus side I feel more secure in the trailer. Too many crazies in a lot of the campgrounds these days.

That definition is going to vary with just about everyone.
Serious Backpackers think we are all glamping!

X2 on others have already said. I think if you are camping with the luxuries of home then it's glamping. Of course there are multiple tiers of glamping.

Funny...I don't even consider the coach when I think of Glamping...I consider the park ameneties.
Pool, Clubhouse, Wifi, Cable, Flat/manicured pad with concrete/pavers, picnic table, firering/barbque, various playground & sports courts, pickleball, Full hookups, camp store/snack bar, individual tiled showers, pull throughs. Grey Poupon!

Glamping is in the eye of the beholder.

The guy backpacking sees the tent campers a glamping....the tent guys see the pop up camper as glamping...the pop up sees the tt as glamping...they see the 5er as glamping... any one camping on a primitive site or boondocking sees the camper at a full hook up Campground as glamping.
Thats my opinion.

Glamping is "camping" in tents which are very nicely furnished, like a small hotel room, but have no a/c or sewer. They "might" have some electricity to them.

Just look up Glamping on the internet and you'll see several examples.

When we tent camped, we pretty much had the comfort of home minus the television and bathroom. Even when we towed a small trailer behind my husbands Road King, people were surprised at our camp site. The only reason for the T.T. is because of my health.

I think of glamping as having all of the modern convenience of a motel room except it is in a big tent, like a real bed. I don't look at our T.T. as glamping. Now the OP SIL 5er would be considered as extravagant. Even if I had the money for something like that, I would not have all that fancy stuff.

There is camping and there's RVing. 2 different activities.

I always figured I had attained glamping status once we had hot running water. Our old pop up was still camping when we were heating water on the gas stove or electric kettle.

No such thing as Glamping.

Either you are camping (no amenities) or you are RVing (full amenities).

Agreed. RVing is not glamping.
I moved from basic tent camping to glamping to RVing. When I was glamping I moved up to a tall two room tent, Camp chairs and wine chest in the front, bedroom in the back, both rooms had rugs, battery operated chandelier, blowup queen size bed with side tables, Solar generator operated my lights and fans . Even had my port a potty in a small privacy tent set up just a few feet away.
It was a whole different dimension of space and comfort from basic tent camping.

More

In my opinion, The more connections you have to your camper the closer you are to glamping. Cable TV, Wi-Fi in the park, even a full-time sewer connection add to make your camping experience more glamorous.
