What would you remove when selling your RV?

I was up on a ladder inspecting my roof this weekend, when I noticed new white caulking in 4 spots on my roof vents. There use to be vent covers on them! Are you kidding me? The previous owner took the time to take the covers off for his new camper!

This got me thinking. When selling or trading in your RV, what would you remove that you added? For me, I would remove all LED bulbs if I knew if they are compatible with my new unit. Anything screwed in, like roof vent covers, will stay.

It depends if I was selling the trailer or trading it in. If I was trading it in, I would remove retail after-market items as I found dealers don't really take those items into account.

So, I would remove the after market items that I think I could use on my new trailer (assuming it didn't already have them) like an inverter, hard-wired surge protector, TV, Maxxair vent covers, 6-volt batteries are just some things I would consider removing.

Again, that is for a trade-in where I don't think you get paid for these items. I would probably leave them on if I sold the trailer privately and negotiate them into the price.

A few years ago, we traded our motor home for a TT. I removed a branch that was sticking though the AC cover. Wonder when the new owner found the duct tape patch.

Me personally, the only thing i've ever removed was the t.v, but that's just me. if i'm buying a new camper, I want new stuff..

We always have removed all personal stuff & anything we put in the camper & water hose, sewer (figure new owner would want our stuff) etc. TV, etc.

Never took off roof vent covers standard ones are too cheap.......... The only way I would remove one would be if it were broken already then I would remove it & not replace it. If they were the Maxx air or similar $200-$300 ones. I might consider removing them. Would take a new battery out & replace it with an old one........
Always traded dealers won't give any extra for add ons.........

when trading a unit in, i'd leave stuff on there.
BUT, if selling to private individual, probably the only thing i would take is the propane tanks and the spare tire. some folks like to get the rental tanks so why not keep the originals for my grill? spare tires? who wouldn't need more of them?

Man, the first owners of our "new to us" camper removed the sway bar plates (2) from the tt frame and left the holes open, and now, my sway bar don't fit in the holes. Keep the quick connect hoses, grill, tv, spare tire cover, jacks and slide out tool.
I've sold 3 rv's before buying this one and NEVER removed anything from the trailer that I would like to get in another rv as a buyer. THE "Gold rule", treat other's like you want to be treated.
The last trailer that I sold, left three tv's and extra dvd player there. The guy was very happy!
That just me, and beleive me that rule has never failed us.

I feel the same as you. I was just amazed that the guy took the time to go up there, unbolt the covers, and then goop up the holes.

I guess it would depend on how long I had the unit and if the stuff I wanted to take with me would change the price I would get for the unit. Since we just installed an automatic satellite dish with two receivers and DVR, I would probably take those with me, unless the new buyers paid for othe new equipment just installed. Since most of the mods we have done are pretty permanent (vent fans on top, extra fire extinquishers, new hardware, etc.), I would leave them and adjust selling price accordingly as I think those type of mods increase the value. But, I am a newbie, so what do I know?

When we traded in our old trailer for a new one, I kept the batteries as they were only 3 years old. Everything else that was not a personal item went with the trailer.

I sold the camper as-is with the TVs and covers. A vent cover is $35 on EBay and a new LED is $100, not chump change but a nice gesture to the new owners.

Everything it did not come with starting with my Hensley hitch, never gave a thought to taking the propane tanks or the spare tire but they have always come with the units I have had through the years.

Just took personal items and my 8 homemade stabilizer bars and 1 of the 2 new batteries. They got it just as I did when it was new. Did leave the vent covers.

I just sold my old trailer with plans to upgrade so I removed my upgraded water hose and left the original. Removed the upgraded RINO hose and picked up a basic sewer hose. The original I'd stored away was a write-off. Removed the pressure regulator and elbow fitting that I bought and. a 30amp extension cord. All things I'd be using with the new trailer I wanted to keep. I was on the fence to keep the WD hitch for the new trailer but the new owner asked about it so I included it for a couple hundred dollar. I was looking at getting a Reese dual-cam sway set-up and the bars weren't quite right anyhow. I'd added a Maxx air to my last 2 trailers and left it both times. Once its installed it's almost not worth the $40 I paid to remove it.

I leave it as I found it. I typically clean it top to bottom. I don't leave anything that isn't installed and I don't believe I've ever removed anything attached.

I'd remove any personal items and anything that isn't bolted down. Hoses, rug, awning lights, etc. (I consider these "personal items.") Anything that is permanently attached, or meant to be permanently attached stays. If I were buying a used camper I would sure want the propane tanks and the spare tire included in the deal. If I'm buying a new camper, I want new stuff.
