Our plans for the 4th have changed. We planned to take our 5'er to my nieces for a big celebration with 100 friends and family. He husband had his appendix burst and will spend some extra days in the hospital.

The trailer is loaded, hitched up to the pickup, the local campgrounds are full, may have to go spend a night in the parking lot of one of the WalMarts.

We still are planning on driving our 1928 Ford Model A with the car club in the parade and do a BBQ somewhere after the parade.

We did ours already. Two 2-nighters. First was a 900 mile round trip to Big Bear Lake, CA for a family party. This week we had two nights at Pinecrest, CA, only 40 minutes up the hill from home. (Hint: never take space A-41 if your trailer is over 10'. 90 degree back-in on the inside of a curve with leaning trees and buckbrush on both sides). We had to make a run (without trailer) to Fresno yesterday. Lots of slow traffic streaming out of the mountains at 10:00. It will be a madhouse at the campgrounds over the weekend and a massive traffic jam on Monday from O'Byrne's Ferry all the way back though Sonora.

Staying at Heartland RV park outside of Rapid City SD. Great park, a lot of people. All the spots full, they take Passport America. Staying until the 6th then slowly going home. A good trip but not the one I had planned on.

You know whats best about the fourth, all the fireworks that get shot off, especially in states that are illegal. It's a reminder to us, that it's the peoples desire to celebrate independence from the oppression of the British, as is demonstrated, despite the governments band on fireworks in most states. So, I salute all those who thumb their noses to authority, in celebration of our truly American way of life, on this most important holiday.
