I just wonder how well some of these places could do if they did a better job educating people, and doing basic follow up.

Place we bought from had sold 10 when we left on Saturday and they were not a large lot.
Maybe he was afraid you were going to start asking questions?

10 on one weekend day in the summer might be 50 a month. That might equate to 500 a year.

Couch's sells probably as many as anyone in the country, probably 1600 a year......yet they answered every question I had, via email, phone, and in person, for about a year!!! Nonstop, almost immediate answers.

Dealers are all different. There's a well known camper sales firm that is not only in business, but all over the country.....which fact blows my mind. Everyone buys cars. They start young and keep doing it. However, many folks buy one RV ever.

And sales people don't know all the details of them, especially if they sell many brands, and they change every year. For example, ask them about getting satellite TV in your RV. See them answer in Swahili, if it all. LOL

We ran into this a lot. Multiple dealers. Once we drove 3 and a half hours to watch the one we'd arranged to come look at be bought as we pulled on the lot.
Most every time if we didn't choose right then the very next weekend that camper was gone. We found campers to hot selling items. They don't sit long other than the high end or bottom end models.
We were always told we could order but at full msrp

Sorry to keep interjecting, but..........

I ordered. At same price as if it had been sitting on the lot for a year. I paid about ..... 61% of MSRP.

I see you're located in CT as well, what dealers did you go to? Remember, it's summer time, they're not willing to deal as much, as someone will walk in and pay sticker price for the camper. Go back in fall and you'll see a difference in their reaction.

Three phases

There are three separate negotiations you should be involved in when you purchase any vehicle, RV or otherwise.

1. Purchase price (NOT the difference between your trade in and ales, but the Lowest price they will accept for their unit).

2. What they will give you for your trade in

3. Financing. Don't tell them you are not going to finance. They want a chance to make that kickback money. Give them that chance. Then do what you want, with your own financing or even if it is to hand them a check at closing.

I enquired on two different class A motorhomes. One was at Lazydays RV, and the other Camping World. Both had us fill out a trade appraisal form, and we never heard back from them. I now will not deal with either of the companies, and would telling anyone looking for an RV to check with other dealers.

Heck if it will get a return response, finance it through them and then pay it off the next month.

The BOSS just bought a new car. The dealer did the "finance with us and get a cheaper price" boogie with us. I said ok, paid the 1st month note and went to my credit union and got a lower interest and paid the dealer off. I'm sure that made him "happy" that he didn't make any interest off of me. He should have come down to that price from the beginning!
