Cars/trucks about the same. Rebates come from Ford finance. I always finance for the rebate and pay it off early ~~ any time after 3 payments.

dealer

Even after you buy one they seem to lose all interest in you.I took mine in for repair and 3 times they said they would call and never did.

Uneducated salespeople drive me crazy. While no one can know every detail of every model, they certainly should know where to access the information. There is nothing wrong in telling a customer "I don't know, let me get the answer for you." The lack of follow up is disturbing. RV dealers spend money on advertising and carry floor inventory to get you in the door. Any salesperson who doesn't follow up with a potential customer is an idiot!

Be careful on the finance and buy off idea. Always ask and read the details for a prepayment penalty.
And about not getting a call back, who knows, maybe that sales rep quit. We had that happen one time on a car purchase. Good luck!

Me Too

Feel your pain ,

Same thing happened to me , went to 3 dealers wanting to purchase with no trade and cash deal . Not one of the three called me back , all were going to let me know when they could have the unit I wanted [ a Rockwood ] . I finally found one out of state and went and got it and have been very pleased with the Rockwood . 3 Local dealers had no interest in selling me one.

When we bought our first one, it was a cash deal and we went to a dealer in CT, and told them our budget, what we were looking for, and he only showed us used ones and they had nothing we wanted. He said "I'll call you if anything comes in", never heard from him, and now that dealer emails and calls us every spring and fall with "deals" they have. However, we took our business else where

Unbelievable, but I've heard during prime RV selling season, if the salesman has a tire kicker, there's another prospect sitting in the lobby looking to buy.

The local dealer we bought ours from in April, sold it to us at a great price, with no financing, no trade-in. I would buy from them again.

Perhaps the solution is to keep your money in hand. Let them get you the financing, and then when the first payment is due, pay it off completely. Unlike auto sales who prefer a cash sale, the RV dealers want the financing monies...

We did go there, and spoke with Suzy. She did finally call me back after getting some of my questions answered from Forest River. Their quote was kind of on the high side, but I like that they are a small dealer. I am checking out some prices at other places to see the comparison. I do have to order my unit, as no one within a 4 hour drive has one. I wonder if that changes our ability to negotiate.

They seem to be a friendly place. I'm not keen on the mega dealers. I like small town, mom and pop places. Have you had any warranty work done here?

I have not had to have any warranty work done as my TT is working flawlessly. I can tell you that I had gone to many shows last year and decided to buy from the Orofino's. I found them to be very honest and professional. I had Them install solar panels on the roof and two six volt deep cell batteries as well. I ordered my unit in February and it was delivered to their dealership in April and my wife and I picked it up on April 30th. I negotiated a very fair price as I did price the unit at a dealer in NJ and they were slightly higher. Mike explained everything about the camper to us during the PDI and we were not rushed. Custom Camper is a two and a half hour drive from our home on Long Island but it's worth the trip. If you PM me I'd be happy to discuss and answer any other questions.

All the best and have a safe 4th.

Most dealers here in CT are pretty useless.

And here I bought from a wholesaler after hearing they are not very helpful, and they bent over backwards for months to instantly and accurately answer my every question.....

What dealer was this? You can private message me to keep it quiet here. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks so much for your help! I spoke with Suzy today and we will probably move forward with ordering next week. I would LOVE to have my new unit before mid September to go on a couple of shake down trips before we store it for the winter! I like the vibes I get from them. They seem like nice people.

They are lovely people you should not have any problems. I got the same vibe you did that's why I travelled from LI to purchase my TT. What unit are you looking at?

Yes. Get a selling price, trade in value and try to make a deal. If you can't get the price you want, or options, then leave. They'll often call you with a better offer. Of course if you like the first offer, go for it. Good luck.

No wonder quality control is down there selling them so fast and the people can't wait to throw money at them . most finance costs more then just interest at first . then the lump payment goes to interest in the beginning . so if i didn't have to i would not finance . . take your time don't be in a rush . if your itching to spend money and get a unit asap you'll pay for it
