Dealers don't want my money??

What's up with rv dealers??? One Flagstaff, one Rockwood and one Thor. We visited 3...we sat down and asked what we could get for a trade in on our 23ikss, showed great interest in their campers. One was a $77,000.00 Thor 26B. They asked us how much we owe on our ikss. We said 0, nada, nothing. We own it. Also told them that we would likely NOT be financing any of them. Hmmpphhh.... A week later, not ONE of them has called us to discuss selling price, trade in or anything. I am stumped, shocked, and VERY disappointed. Ya think they would have called, sent an email, something???? So here we sit wondering if we should see it as a sign. If they won't call us to sell an 80K RV, what's gonna happen when we need service on the unit? Not good, dealers, not good. I guess we'll be enjoying our lovely 23ikss for the rest of the season, cuz I'm just reeeaaaalllyy disappointed.

Guess they don't need your business. I'd forget them. Later RJD

No one needs to inspect your RV to determine a trade in value. To them you were just a looker since you didn't walk out with the numbers. If you are really serious, take the time to negotiate a price on your trade and the new unit while you are there.

We were there to negotiate, and had our camper with us, and they looked at it. We sat down, talked about EVERYTHING we wanted, wrote up a quote sheet with dealer. They all said they would get back to us. The salesperson kept telling us that the Thor was priced like this for this week only, so we were definitely interested. Nope...we'll call you. And then NOTHING. We can't walk out with numbers if they won't give them to me.

Not sure. They DO make a good amount on kickback from financing. I tried to arrange financing with State Farm independently and that did not set well with them. I went with their financing anyway, because they got me 3%, but they will do a lot to steer you towards their financing.

Short of that, hard to explain. Find the Big Wig and call him directly and tell him he apparently doesn't like selling units.

But there are 20,023,978 dealers.......I'd not go back to that one.

DEALERS

Most dealerships make a large portion of their money from the sale from fianance. If you are not planning on using them for the fianance they will ignore you. Sad but true.

But only a few in CT, unfortunately. Slim pickins around here.

Just go ahead a lie to the dealer and tell them you'll need their financing. Get the deal done then pay up. Don't worry about not being honest with them up front...you can be sure they won't be honest with you up front (or anywhere else in the process).

When we were looking last week it baffles me how they can keep the doors open, but I guess if they have what you want at the right price people will buy it.

The sales guy we bought from was very low pressure to the point it bothered me. He didn't seem to care if we were there or not. He answered questions, but did not really sell it, just walked around with us.

I just wonder how well some of these places could do if they did a better job educating people, and doing basic follow up.

Place we bought from had sold 10 when we left on Saturday and they were not a large lot.
