Wheel bearings

I packed two of my wheel bearings yesterday and they looked fine except for a slight tan discoloration. Is this from too much heat or are they still okay?

Also the grease seals the auto parts store sold me look the same except the rubber part of the seal does not have a spring around it like my old ones. Do I need the seals with the spring?

Thanks

A slight tan discoloration should be fine as long as the bearings are still tight. If they are blue, they should be replaced. I would try to get the seals with the spring in them if you can. They will seal better.
