Those do have a molded handle, I do not have a picture of that angle

I put the rope on to make it easy to pull them out and stay off my knees.

I use the cheapo plastic chocks the dealer provided to hold the unit while I unhook. Then I use the x-chocks to actually chock and stabilize the unit during setup.

Check Amazon and/or eBay. Then check camping world. If you're a Good Sam member there are discounts.

I've seen some of those plastic ones that are smashed nearly flat. We've got a set gathering dust in DH's shop.

AHAH! With the larger photo I can see the top of the handle.

We have a lot of nylon rope....may put a loop on ours.

(driving down a back road last year and there was a big spool of it in the ditch....shortly after that it was...ahem...gone!) <grin>

If you look at the bottom of the handle you will notice a hole about 1/2 inch there is a very thin rubber membrane just drill it out and then thread the rope thru.

Last year on a gravel road to a friends camp site there were two near new ratchet straps, I threw them into the back of my truck to keep them from getting run over...

Not the cheapest BY FAR, but they're my preference for between-the-wheel chocks:

LOL, someone like me! I picked up a chain and binder not long ago. Looks like it fell off a log truck...heavy duty!

I see and pick up bungee cords all the time (the heavy rubber type). If you run over those the wrong way you've got an immediate flat! So even if they're broken I pick up and discard them, especially if there's still a hook on it.

I travel a lot. Amazing the things an observant person finds. I used to walk 7 miles a day (rain or shine) on a busy highway with nice wide shoulders. Pots and pans, silverware, dishes...sheesh it looked like the Beverly Hillbillies had come through! BTW, I didn't pick any of that junk up LOLOL.

Yeah, DW turned on to dust pulling the TT forward without removing one.

Ahem, now I know which of my friends has been taking business away from me.

I use four rubber wheel chocks like Weezer pointed out for chocking the wheels (behind both rear tires, and forward of both front tires), and X-chocks for stabilization to keep the trailer from rocking as much.

We have discussed the main function of the X-chocks many times in other forums. They are designed for stabilization.

Here is a link and excerpt from their manufacturers website:

BAL's chocks are designed for locking trailer tires when camping. They should be put in place after disconnecting from your tow vehicle and after putting down your stabilizing jacks. They should be removed prior to hooking up to your tow vehicle. Failure to do so may damage your chocks. To avoid undesired trailer movement when disconnecting or hooking up to your tow vehicle, a tire "wedge" should be firmly placed behind one, or preferably both rear trailer tires.

I'd be embarrassed to post a picture of my yellow plastic ones...

Mind you, the Rotochoks make no such distinction. They advertise them as first on/last off.

Once the TT is leveled side to side I place rubber wheel chocks (like the ones in Ford Idaho's picture) down before unhooking. Once TT is leveled front to back I put the x-chocks on both sides.

pffffttttt One set of those All Terrain TA's I've told you I'll buy from you next time will offset that. And, I don't want it to be ME that gets that flat!

Yep, wmtire is the one who told us about the rubber "toothed" chocks at Harbor Freight. He's so kind hearted he gave away two of his to a guy he said had no chocks, so we picked up a couple for him while we were there.

Yeah, he talks tough, but he's a big ole marshmallow.

I chock the rig before unhitching it. Then before the slides go out, the x-chocks go on, the chocks come out.

Never had a problem disconnecting or connecting our 08 Flagstaff 831RLSS with the Bal Xchocks installed, in fact, anytime the trailer was parked for any length of time the X chocks were installed and that was and is the last thing removed before getting on the road. Do the same with the 5er.

I would like to do that too, but that assumes I have a DW, DS and DD that are patient enough to wait for me to crank down the x-chocks vs quickly kicking in the cheap plastic triangles.

I posted my procedure in another thread over here.

Takes all of 30 seconds per chock.

Good grief man, that's like 60 seconds of less time in front of the television... have you no mercy!
