Wheels and tires

Have a 829RGSS Flagstaff 2006.

Can I put 16" wheels and tires on this unit?? I can't find what I want in a 15" tire. The Carlisles' on it now are junk in my opinion. I have pics of carlisles that aren't pretty!!

Thanks,

Also does anybody have a wiring diagram on the Concertone???

Thanks again,

Paul B

I hate the 15" tires as well and wanted D rated tires. For me, they look too soft with the weight of the trailer even at their 50 psi rating. I did find one site that had 15" D rated tires, but I can't remember where I saw it. They were also wider, so would require a rim change as well. I am actually surprised major tire manufacturers don'tmake ST's.

My rig came with 15" D rated tires and given the GWR of the trailer the tires were almost maxed out (less than 200lbs to spare). After my 1st blowout (metal in the lane of travel, not tire failure) I sought out a nearby Discount Tire and they had some load range E tires that would fit on my 15" rim. They had 2 different brands, Carliles and Greenball. I went with the Greenball (Chinese manufacture) and have so far been happy with them. They have the Transmaster and Towmaster tire series, both ST. Discount Tire at the time didn't show them on their web site but the local shop had them. Might want to check out you local DT.

The troubel with ST tires is their speed rating, max 65 mph. With todays' roads and interstates and speed limits of 70 ish they need to make better tires. I don't tow over 70 and usually set the cruise at about 67 mph. But I think the fact that they aren't rated higher contributes to tire failure.

That's why I want to go to 16". That gives us speed rating, for those that wish to go faster and weight rating. Cooler tires are happy tires.
