well, we currently live in Napa Valley and will soon be retiring to Camano Island, the DW is from the area and wants to be near her family.

the NW can't be any worse than the SF Bay Area.
i grew up here and can't stand what my home region has become. it's nearly unrecognizable from when i was a kid.
though i love the land and consider the state to be one of most beautiful places on earth, i can't wait to get out of California!
the current politics here are unbearable.

I find Napa a bit on the hot side, but Camano Island is lovely. My favorite, tho, is San Juan Island. That is part of my retirement dream.

We are in Fairbanks, Alaska. Love it here now, but would like to snow bird to someplace warm when we retire.

I'm a native of High Point, NC, and went to Brevard and Chapel Hill (UNC) for college; thereafter lived many years in the Smoky Mountains area of NC and later spent some time in South Carolina and Georgia. We now live at High Rock Lake near Lexington, NC, which is ground-zero for North Carolina barbecue. Hey, Pondlady, Chapel Hill is a mecca of liberalism in the South. You'd love it, as I do. It's not as cool as it was in the 60's and 70's, but it's still way out there. Peace.

I love Chapel Hill! I would live there in a heartbeat. Also Asheville. Even Franklin.

Cool. We lived in Asheville for a number of years and go camping there as often as we can. We love all the sidewalk restaurants and bohemian shops. Actually, we camp in Swannanoa, so that we're generally equidistant from Asheville and Black Mountain. Perhaps we'll run into you up there sometime.

Fantastic place to live. I have enjoyed your skiing and crawled a few rocks near there.

It is a lovely place to live. Have really enjoyed reading your messages. Hope to take possession of a Rockwood 2304S within the next few weeks - first TT. Will travel to Elkhart, IN and drive back to CA. Kind of a long "shakedown". Have some concern about towing as operator, but kept reminding myself that I have conned USCG Cutters during a 29+ career. Look forward to reading informative subject in this forum. CDR Bill.
