Where can I get up to date road maps?

Yes, I have a GPS. Yes, I have a Smartphone. Yes, I get it that technology rules the world.

Got it. Honest. Check!

But I want a folded, quality, easier to read UP TO DATE highway map for the states we'll be traversing. I was about to buy some stuff on Amazon, and I found a map for every one of the states. I was about to buy when I noticed that they were ALL out of date!!! 2009, 2010, the newest is 2012!!!

Searched, and can't find new ones. Yes, I can find, and we own, one of those big Atlas's. But DW can barely read it while driving, it's so small.....plus when a road crosses a state line you have to flip from page 83 to page 184!!!! She's having cataract surgery soon so maybe that'll help, but I still want individual maps.

WHERE??????

Thanks.

Amazon is where the ones are all out of date.

And I realize most "Welcome Centers" have them. But I wasn't wanting to pull over every time I hit a state line. Got a LOT of state lines coming up this year......wanted these in advance.

I am very cheap when it comes to state highway maps! What I do is to go on the internet and contact each state tourism bureau. They offer free information and highway maps, this usually takes two to three weeks for delivery. These items are always free all you have to do is request them.

if you don't need them ahead of time, stop at the welcome center of each state, they usually have them for their state for free. If you are a triple A member, I would check with them.

Go on line to each states Tourist Bureau and they will mail you a map along with all kind of info for that state.

Do they make them anymore? LoL. Most welcome centers and full service rest stops carry foldable maps of the state.

Got what I could from AAA online. They only allow 5 publications, and I don't see specific state maps, just Regional maps. That may be enough.

Doc, wife has cataracts (surgeries coming up) and severe motion sickness, so she can't see fine print maps like in an Atlas well. Yes, I have a GPS, I said that originally.

I simply want some good maps. I guess I'll stop at every state line I cross......which will be about 30 in 2017.........and get them one at a time.

Unfortunately, it's not going to be 1 click shopping to get them all.

As mentioned, EVERY state has a Department of Transportation that will send you a FREE map.

You are going to have to spend some time visiting each web site and requesting them.

Just google 'state highway maps' and many of the sites links will be right there for your taking.

*HERE* is an example for Minnesota. The request a free map link is in the left upper box.

Around here we have AAA stores. They are full of local guides and maps. Free to AAA members, small cost to nonmembers. I send a friend with AAA to pick us up our stuff. Never did their online thing but the store has a section like a library of all the guides and maps of the US.

EDIT: Seeing the medical issues, I do not know if ANY map can fit your bill, esp the full state ones. They are all seemingly micro printed.

I always stop at the first rest area after crossing a border, usually a welcome center, free maps are usually available there for whatever state you are entering.

Don't count on state maps in Ohio our Indiana. The rest areas along i70 don't stock them. I still use paper maps to see optional routes to the GPS. I go to the states web sites and get maps free.

Change is hard for some. If you must have maps(??) As was stated order them all in advance of your travels. Don't think they will do what you expect due to your wife's medical condition though.

Try How To Find a Free Folded Map.

I can't vouch for their accuracy, but they have a contact phone number and a website to request free maps, travel guides, and brochures from each state's DOT. It will take some phone calling, but it appears to be a comprehensive list.

I get them for the SE by internet to each tourist office except LA. A call had that map at the house in just a few days.
