We love Prairie Creek COE Camp Ground, White Hall,Al. 56 campsites, water and elec. hookup only. Beautiful "old south" setting with Spanish moss everywhere. Located on the point where the creek and the Alabama river meet. Late at night you can see deer in the woods.

favourite places

We also enjoyed Hartwick Pines in Michigan. It was very clean and had alot of tall trees. We enjoy camping in Canada in Wheatley Provincial Park. It has a great Thanksgiving/Halloween weekend with spooky haunted sites. It also has nice wooded secluded sites as well as sites over looking the water. Depending on the site, they do have water and electrical. The kids love Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in our hometown of Amherstburg Ontario. Lots of fun for the kids!

Oregon Coast State Parks!!!

Full hook up sites $21 - $27

Oregon has beautiful, well maintained state parks. All paved. Jr. Ranger programs for the kids. Never had a ban on campfires. Great beaches.

Our favorite state parks are:

Bullards Beach State Park (Bandon, Or)
Honeyman State Park (Florence, Or)
Beverly Beach State Park (Newport, Or)
Fort Stevens State Park (near Astoria, Or)

Our favorite spot is wherever we're going next, but if I had to choose one or two It would be Rock Island State Park in TN or Sylamore Creek Camp in AR. Both are reasonably priced($17 to $22 per night), clean and quiet. Rock Island has beautiful waterfalls and it's just a short drive to Burgess Falls which is spectacular. Sylamore Creek is in Mountian View, AR and is the home to Blanchard Springs Caverns.

Thanks for providing the links. Really liked your pictures. Climbing up that mountain of sand I'm sure was fun.

Boy! All these places seem great (and cheap). We are from NJ and do most of our camping at camp grounds in NJ (with the exception of Lancaster, PA in the fall and OC, MD for a week in the summer). We spend at least $55-60 nite - if not more! I would live to find a place near us for the prices listed in this topic.

You're 100% correct there. We go to Lancaster PA, Ocean City,MD and Myrtle Beach each year and it's not that cheap during off-season.

Wow, sites sure sound cheaper south of the border as we are anywhere from $35-50 at conservation and provincial parks with hydro and maybe water hookups
