Where is your "unit serial number" located?

I want to send in the Forest River 2nd year warranty. It asks for the serial number. For the life of me I cannot find it any documentation I have or on the TT. Any ideas out there?

My 2012 Silverback FW has the S/N and other information such as cold tire pressure on a decal/placard on the left forward side (facing forward).

I would guess that this is an universal location for TT's also.

If you can't find yours or it is missing, call your factory rep.

It should be on the tongue on the drivers side.

I have our documents in a notebook and I put the VIN number, insurance info, roadside assistance, etc on a cover page. But it is also on a sticker on the front driver side of our TT. Can you check back with your dealer if you can't find it?

On my 5th wheel it is on the side of the pin box mount. It will also be on your title, registration paperwork, and on the yellow sticker.

Thanks for the quick replies. I should have stated it is a 2012 Salem Cruise 221RBXL.

I have VIN, tire, etc. info on the inside of the door frame, but no serial number. Why would there be no serial number on your title or documentation?

I'll check for a serial number on the tongue. I'll go take a picture.

I went out and took a picture. I have posted pics before. Now I'm having a brain fart on how to upload.

Okay, here it is. Is this the serial number? I guess I should reinstate that the form in OP was asked for a Unit Serial Number but had forgot to mention that it asked for a Unit VIN as well. Hope it clears that up.

Unit VIN:
Unit Model Number:

Okay, a closer look at the number on my frame rail is my VIN. So now I have no idea where a serial number may be. Do I even need to provide it on the form?

I suppose I'll delete the photo from my previous post since it was posting a VIN number.

When I applied for 2nd year warranty, I left the serial # blank and on the second line jist put in the Vin # and the model on the line beneath that. They accepted the application with no problem.

I checked the warranty application that I sent in to Forest River. The info was typed out by the dealer (RV Direct) and the extended warranty discussed during the PDI. The serial number they listed on the form was the last 7 digits of the VIN.

Well based on what I've read, I'm just going to send it in as is. The VIN, model number, buyer info, dealer info and sale date should be more than enough identity I would think.

Thank you for your responses. An informative site as always.

Just some additional info regarding the unit S/N - the somewhat useless owners manual we get with our units contains information on how to decifer the S/N - or at least mine did.

I checked mine, too. I had called mine in at the time so this is a photocopy of the one that FR completed. Its the last seven digits of my VIN.

Agree with Triguy and Dave Moncia, serial number is the last 7 digits of VIN. These are the only numbers that will change for identical units coming off the same assembly line.

On a towable rv, the VIN is serial number.

Forest River also makes motorhomes, which the VIN is on the chassis, and the serial number is for the coach they build on top of the chassis.

Motorhomes have both a VIN and a S/N.....

Agreed - whenever FR needs to know what unit they're dealing with they always ask for the last 7 numbers of your VIN, which is your unique serial number.
